Iron oxide pigments production by country measures how much iron oxide pigments each country produces, expressed in metric tons. Iron oxide pigments are colouring materials derived from iron-bearing ores or processed sources, used in paints, coatings, and construction products. The statistics are based on USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table below lists 7 countries with 2024 and 2025 data available for all of them. The United States figures are withheld to avoid disclosing company proprietary data.
India produced the most iron oxide pigments in 2025 with 3,400,000 metric tons, about twelve times the output of the second largest producer. Germany ranked second with 280,000, followed by Pakistan (80,000), Italy (32,000), Cyprus (22,000), Spain (19,000), and France (13,000). Among the 7 countries with available 2025 data, India accounted for about 88 percent of the reported production values, and India and Germany together accounted for about 96 percent. Only India produced more than 1,000,000 metric tons in 2025. In Asia, India (3,400,000 metric tons) is the dominant producer, ahead of Pakistan (80,000). In Europe, Germany (280,000) leads, ahead of Italy (32,000), Spain (19,000), France (13,000), and Cyprus (22,000, in Europe). India's dominance defines the structure of this indicator: its 88 percent share dwarfs every other listed producer, and the remaining six producers together account for only 12 percent of reported output. The next largest producer, Germany, is roughly one twelfth of India's level, and the gap persists across the full range of the data. Every country increased production between 2024 and 2025. India recorded the largest increase, rising from 3,300,000 metric tons in 2024 to 3,400,000 in 2025 (up 100,000). Germany rose from 276,000 to 280,000 (up 4,000), and Cyprus, France, Italy, Pakistan, and Spain each rose by 1,000 metric tons. Total reported production among the 7 listed countries rose from 3,737,000 metric tons in 2024 to 3,846,000 in 2025, an increase of 109,000 metric tons, or about 2.9 percent. India's gain of 100,000 metric tons explains about 92 percent of the net increase, with the remaining six countries contributing a combined 9,000 metric tons.
