Mixed Extracts and Juices Consumption by Country
Türkiye recorded the largest listed food supply of mixed meat and seafood extracts in 2023, at 5,675 tonnes. Hong Kong followed with 4,284 tonnes, while Malaysia ranked third at 3,485 tonnes. Together, the three countries accounted for 29.3 percent of the 45,903-tonne annual listed total. Hong Kong ranked first per person, at 1.58 grams per day. Across the 138 countries with 2023 values, the listed total was 5.5 percent lower than in 2022. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.
Which country had the highest mixed meat and seafood extract food supply in 2023? Türkiye ranked first, with 5,675 tonnes, followed by Hong Kong at 4,284 tonnes and Malaysia at 3,485 tonnes. Hong Kong had the highest listed food supply per person, at 1.58 grams per person per day. The data cover food available for human consumption and should not be interpreted as a direct measure of actual intake.
The Philippines placed fourth at 3,399 tonnes, with South Korea fifth at 2,686 and Norway sixth at 2,395. Russia, Thailand, Brazil and New Zealand closed the top ten between 1,546 and 2,294 tonnes. The top three held 29.3 percent of the annual listed food supply total, and the top five 42.5 percent. South Korea's listed food supply fell by 4,075 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, from 6,761 to 2,686 tonnes, a decrease of 60.3 percent. Thailand declined by 2,022 tonnes, and Hungary by 1,463 tonnes. Malaysia recorded the largest increase among the highlighted countries, rising from 364.23 to 3,485 tonnes. Türkiye added 570 tonnes, while Germany and the United States also recorded gains. Across the 138 countries with values in both years, the total fell from 48,585 to 45,903 tonnes, a decrease of 2,682 tonnes, or 5.5 percent. For the 128 countries with values in both 2019 and 2023, the combined listed total declined from 68,271 to 45,899 tonnes, a decrease of 22,372 tonnes, or 32.8 percent. India fell from 17,315 tonnes in 2019 to 3.25 tonnes in 2023, after reported values of zero in 2020 and 2021. South Korea's total decreased by 10,388 tonnes, while Hungary fell by 1,859 tonnes. In contrast, Türkiye gained 2,311 tonnes and Malaysia gained 1,888 tonnes. These figures describe changes in reported food supply; they do not establish why the values changed. Hong Kong ranked first in 2023 at 1.58 grams per person per day, followed by Norway at 1.19 grams and New Zealand at 0.82 grams. Botswana reported 0.55 grams and Sweden 0.39 grams, with Hungary at 0.34 grams. Ireland, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Iceland and Malaysia followed below 0.34 grams. Türkiye, first by volume, missed the per-person top ten. Total tonnage and per-person figures describe different measures: the first reflects overall volume, the second adjusts for population. Extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, for human consumption, are pooled in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country over 2019-2023. The dataset includes 150 countries and areas that reported a value in at least one year; 138 have a reported value for 2023. Annual totals sum the reporting countries and areas for each year, excluding aggregate rows. Comparisons between years use only countries and areas with values at both endpoints. A reported zero is retained as supplied by FAO, while a blank cell indicates missing data. These figures describe food available for human consumption and do not directly measure actual intake. FAO FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts report food supply for human consumption in tonnes (element 5141) and grams per person per day (element 665). The dataset covers the FAO item "Extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates" for 2019-2023. Annual listed totals sum the reporting countries with values for the relevant year. Year-to-year and five-year comparisons use only countries with values at both endpoints. Reported zeros are retained as values, while blanks are treated as missing data; percentage changes are not calculated from a zero base. These indicators measure food available for human consumption, not actual intake. Large changes in reported values should not be interpreted as evidence of a specific cause without additional information.Mixed Extracts and Juices Consumption

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Which country ranked first by total food supply in 2023?
Türkiye ranked first in 2023, with 5,675 tonnes of listed food supply in the same listed table that year, followed by Hong Kong in second.
Which country ranked first per person?
Hong Kong led per person in 2023, followed by Norway at 1.19 grams per person per day in the same listed table that year, ahead of New Zealand in third.
Why did the combined total decline in 2023?
The listed total fell by 2,682 tonnes over the year. South Korea, Thailand and Hungary recorded large declines, partly offset by increases in Malaysia and other countries. The data do not establish the causes of these changes.
What happened to India's reported value?
India's listed value fell from 17,315 tonnes in 2019 to zero in 2020 and 2021, then to 4.58 tonnes in 2022 and 3.25 tonnes in 2023. The series alone does not explain this pattern.
Do these figures show how much people actually ate?
No. They measure food available for human consumption in the reference year, not the amount of extract actually eaten by individual people in each year.
Data Disclaimer: Projected data (future years) are estimates based on mathematical models. Actual values may differ. Learn about our methodology →
