India remained the second-largest producer of raw goat and kid hides in 2024, adding 24,335 tonnes from 2023, while Mongolia's production was 50.6 percent lower than in 2020. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Raw hides and skins of goats or kids, 2020-2024, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 148 countries; 146 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 1,516,677 tonnes. The 2024 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

In 2024, China was the largest listed producer of raw hides and skins of goats or kids with 507,395 tonnes, followed by India with 313,233 tonnes and Pakistan with 134,178 tonnes. The 146 countries reporting a 2024 quantity accounted for 1,516,677 tonnes in total. China, India, and Pakistan together represented 63.0 percent of that listed total.

China produced 1.62 times as much as India: 507,395 tonnes against 313,233, while Pakistan ranks third with 134,178 tonnes, 179,055 tonnes behind India. The top two hold 54.1 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 134,178 and 69,664 tonnes respectively.

China Accounted for One-Third of Listed Goat Hides Production in 2024

China was the largest raw goat and kid hides producer in the 2024 listed data with 507,395 tonnes, followed by India with 313,233 tonnes and Pakistan with 134,178 tonnes. Bangladesh ranked fourth with 69,664 tonnes.

China holds 33.5 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 63.0 percent of the 1,516,677-tonne listed total.

India Adds 24,335 Tonnes as Raw Hides and Skins of Goats or Kids Production Grows 1.4 Percent

The common reporter universe (146 countries with data in both years) edged from 1,495,777 tonnes to 1,516,677 tonnes between 2023 and 2024, a change of 20,900 tonnes (1.4 percent). The totals listed for each year were 1,495,784 tonnes (147 reporters) and 1,516,677 tonnes (146 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (7.03 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 24,335 tonnes (up 8.4 percent), while China fell 13,240 tonnes (down 2.5 percent) and Mongolia 9,800 tonnes (down 36.0 percent).

India Adds 92,769 Tonnes as Raw Hides and Skins of Goats or Kids Production Grows 12.6 Percent Among Common Reporters Since 2020

From 2020 to 2024 the common reporter universe (146 countries with data in both years) moved from 1,347,292 tonnes to 1,516,677 tonnes, a change of 169,385 tonnes (12.6 percent). The totals listed for each year were 1,348,165 tonnes (148 reporters) and 1,516,677 tonnes (146 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Palestine, 866.13 tonnes, and Nicaragua, 6.89 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 92,769 tonnes (up 42.1 percent), accounting for 54.8 percent of the increase, while China added 24,935 tonnes (up 5.2 percent) and Mongolia fell 17,829 tonnes (down 50.6 percent).

For raw goat and kid hides production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 raw goat and kid hides production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the raw goat and kid hides production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For raw goat and kid hides production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
