The table lists 151 countries; 149 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 2,089,340 tonnes. The 2024 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 2.91 times as much as Australia: 592,771 tonnes against 203,991 tonnes, while India ranked third with 196,200 tonnes, 7,791 tonnes behind Australia. The top two accounted for 38.1 percent of the listed total, followed by India and Türkiye with 196,200 and 92,644 tonnes respectively.

Raw Hides and Skins of Sheep or Lambs Production by Country in 2024

China was the largest raw sheep or lamb hides producer in the 2024 listed data with 592,771 tonnes, followed by Australia with 203,991 tonnes and India with 196,200 tonnes. Türkiye ranked fourth with 92,644 tonnes.

The totals listed for each year were 2,101,791 tonnes (150 reporters) and 2,089,340 tonnes (149 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (5.91 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 22,869 tonnes (up 13.2 percent), while Australia added 17,746 tonnes (up 9.5 percent) and China fell 15,467 tonnes (down 2.5 percent).

India Adds 62,086 Tonnes as Raw Hides and Skins of Sheep or Lambs Production Grows 9.7 Percent Among Common Reporters Since 2020

From 2020 to 2024 the common reporter universe (148 countries with data in both years) moved from 1,905,145 tonnes to 2,089,334 tonnes, a change of 184,189 tonnes (9.7 percent). The totals listed for each year were 1,907,070 tonnes (150 reporters) and 2,089,340 tonnes (149 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Palestine, 1,919 tonnes, and Nicaragua, 5.85 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while 1 new reporter added 6.43 tonnes (Bhutan). India added 62,086 tonnes (up 46.3 percent) and Australia 59,277 tonnes (up 41.0 percent), while Türkiye added 29,800 tonnes (up 47.4 percent).

For raw sheep or lamb hides production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 raw sheep or lamb hides production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the raw sheep or lamb hides production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For raw sheep or lamb hides production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
