The 2024 country list for total roots and tubers production runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 1.08 times as much as Nigeria: 153,174,601 tonnes against 141,872,392, while India ranks third with 65,619,684 tonnes, 76,252,708 tonnes behind Nigeria. The top two hold 31.3 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 65,619,684 and 48,413,696 tonnes respectively.

China was the largest roots and tubers producer in the 2024 listed data with 153,174,601 tonnes, followed by Nigeria with 141,872,392 tonnes and India with 65,619,684 tonnes. The DR Congo ranked fourth with 48,413,696 tonnes.

China holds 16.2 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 38.2 percent of the 943,639,262-tonne listed total.

The totals listed for each year were 933,111,056 tonnes (193 reporters) and 943,639,262 tonnes (192 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (400,582 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. Nigeria added 3,157,312 tonnes (up 2.3 percent) and Laos 1,447,305 tonnes (up 13.0 percent), while India fell 2,736,316 tonnes (down 4.0 percent) and Thailand 1,995,295 tonnes (down 6.4 percent).

Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (192 countries with data in both years) rose from 880,522,659 tonnes to 943,639,262 tonnes, a change of 63,116,603 tonnes (7.2 percent). The totals listed for each year were 880,977,041 tonnes (194 reporters) and 943,639,262 tonnes (192 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Nicaragua, 390,626 tonnes, and Palestine, 63,756 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. Nigeria added 16,783,338 tonnes (up 13.4 percent) and India 9,132,588 tonnes (up 16.2 percent), while Laos added 5,361,719 tonnes (up 74.4 percent).

The listed total rose in each year from 2020 to 2024, from 880,977,041 tonnes to 943,639,262 tonnes. Nigeria led the gains in both windows, while India swung from a 4.0 percent fall in 2024 to a 16.2 percent gain since 2020.

In the total roots and tubers production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported.
