Sunflower-Seed Oil; Crude Production by Country

Ukraine stayed the second-largest crude sunflower-seed oil producer while adding 1,465,800 tonnes and Russia added 1,039,623 tonnes. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Sunflower-seed oil; crude, 2019-2023, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 85 countries; 83 reported a 2023 quantity, and the 2023 annual listed total is 22,655,348 tonnes. The 2023 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

Russia produced 1.16 times as much as Ukraine: 7,038,700 tonnes against 6,044,500, while Argentina ranks third with 1,709,511 tonnes, 4,334,989 tonnes behind Ukraine. The top two hold 57.7 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 1,709,511 and 900,600 tonnes respectively.

Sunflower-Seed Oil; Crude Production by Country in 2023

Russia was the largest crude sunflower-seed oil producer in the 2023 listed data with 7,038,700 tonnes, followed by Ukraine with 6,044,500 tonnes and Argentina with 1,709,511 tonnes. Türkiye ranked fourth with 900,600 tonnes.

Russia holds 31.1 percent of the listed 2023 total. The top three together hold 65.3 percent of the 22,655,348-tonne listed total.

From 2022 to 2023 the common reporter universe (83 countries with data in both years) moved from 20,168,540 tonnes to 22,655,348 tonnes, a change of 2,486,808 tonnes (12.3 percent). The totals listed for each year were 20,168,677 tonnes (85 reporters) and 22,655,348 tonnes (83 reporters); 2 countries reporting in 2022 (Luxembourg, 130.69 tonnes, and Guatemala, 6 tonnes) did not report in 2023, while no new reporters joined. Ukraine added 1,465,800 tonnes (up 32.0 percent) and Russia 1,039,623 tonnes (up 17.3 percent), while Argentina added 211,882 tonnes (up 14.1 percent).

Between 2019 and 2023, the common reporter universe (81 countries with data in both years) rose from 19,924,026 tonnes to 22,655,118 tonnes, a change of 2,731,092 tonnes (13.7 percent). The totals listed for each year were 19,924,369 tonnes (83 reporters) and 22,655,348 tonnes (83 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2019 (Luxembourg, 217.35 tonnes, and Guatemala, 126 tonnes) are absent in 2023, while 2 new reporters joined (Colombia, 230.28 tonnes, and Brunei, a reported zero). Russia added 1,620,273 tonnes (up 29.9 percent) and Argentina 294,998 tonnes (up 20.9 percent), while Kazakhstan added 216,990 tonnes (up 67.8 percent).

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Sunflower-seed oil; crude, 2019-2023. For crude sunflower-seed oil production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 crude sunflower-seed oil production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the crude sunflower-seed oil production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For crude sunflower-seed oil production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
