Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Tallow, 2019-2023. For tallow production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 tallow production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the tallow production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For tallow production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which country was added to the 2023 listed total?

Bolivia reported 4,821 tonnes in 2023, while no quantity was reported for 2019. Because Bolivia had no reported 2019 quantity, it is outside the 2019-2023 common reporter universe but is included in the 2023 listed total.

How did India move since 2019?

India rose from 103,371 tonnes in 2019 to 165,653 tonnes in 2023, a change of 62,282 tonnes (up 60.3 percent). India reports in both years, so the rise sits inside the change universe.

How much did U.S. tallow production change in 2023?

U.S. production decreased from 3,945,872 tonnes in 2022 to 3,900,021 tonnes in 2023, a reduction of 45,851 tonnes, or 1.2 percent.
