Tin Production by Country
Tin production by country measures how much tin each country mines, expressed in tonnes. The figures refer to mine production in terms of tin content, in line with the underlying sources. The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for the earlier years (2020-2024), built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table covers 15 countries included in the underlying data during the period. USGS reports 2025 estimates for 14 countries, which produced a combined 289,400 tonnes in 2025; together with the "Other countries" value of 1,700 tonnes, this totals 291,100 tonnes, slightly above the reported World total of 290,000 tonnes in the source. The United States is listed by the source without a value and keeps its earlier zeros through 2022.
Largest Tin-Producing Countries in 2025
China produced the most tin in 2025 with 71,000 tonnes. Indonesia ranked second with 61,000, followed by Peru (33,000), Brazil (28,000), DR Congo (27,000), Bolivia (15,000), Myanmar (12,000), Australia (12,000), Vietnam (11,000), and Malaysia (5,000).

China alone accounted for about 24 percent of the World total in 2025, and China and Indonesia together for about 46 percent; the top three countries accounted for about 57 percent. China's output was about 1.2 times that of Indonesia. Five countries produced at least 20,000 tonnes in 2025.

In Asia, China (71,000) leads, ahead of Indonesia (61,000) and Myanmar (12,000), followed by Vietnam (11,000), Malaysia (5,000), and Laos (1,800).
In South America, Peru (33,000) leads, ahead of Brazil (28,000) and Bolivia (15,000). In Africa, DR Congo (27,000) leads, ahead of Rwanda (4,600) and Nigeria (3,500). In Europe, Russia (4,500) is the largest producer. In Oceania, Australia (12,000) is the only listed producer.
Largest Changes in Tin Production, 2024-2025
Indonesia recorded the largest increase, rising from 55,000 tonnes in 2024 to 61,000 in 2025 (up 6,000, about 11 percent). Russia rose from 3,260 to 4,500 (up 1,240, about 38 percent), DR Congo from 26,000 to 27,000 (up 1,000), Peru by 700, Australia by 700, Rwanda by 500, Brazil by 400, and Nigeria by 400.
Myanmar recorded the largest decline, falling from 20,000 to 12,000 tonnes (down 8,000, about 40 percent). Bolivia fell from 21,200 to 15,000 (down 6,200, about 29 percent), Malaysia by 460, and Laos by 60. China (71,000) and Vietnam (11,000) held their levels.
The World total fell from 294,000 to 290,000 tonnes (down 4,000, about 1.4 percent). The declines at Myanmar and Bolivia more than offset the increases at Indonesia, Russia, and the other listed producers. The listed countries fell by 3,780 tonnes in net terms, while the World total fell by 4,000 tonnes; the World total is reported separately from the country figures in the source.
The 2024 figures in this release are revised from earlier values, most notably Myanmar (revised down from 34,000 to 20,000 tonnes), Vietnam (up from 6,700 to 11,000), Malaysia (up from 3,000 to 5,460), Indonesia (up from 50,000 to 55,000), Nigeria (down from 7,000 to 3,100), and Australia (up from 9,900 to 11,300).

The earlier figures come from Our World in Data, which compiles national tin production figures from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, the USGS Historical Statistics for Mineral and Material Commodities, and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with major processing by Our World in Data; USGS data is prioritized, with BGS data used to supplement it. The earlier series covers 2020-2024. The 2024 and 2025 figures are estimates from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 where available; the United States is listed without a value and keeps its earlier zeros through 2022. Values refer to mine production of tin content, in tonnes, and 2025 figures are preliminary estimates from the source. The sum of individually reported country estimates does not equal the reported World total because the source applies rounding and other adjustments at the country and World levels. In the table, a zero reflects no production, while an empty cell means that no value was reported.
