Apricots Consumption by Country

Uzbekistan ranked first in total apricot food supply in 2023, with 329,495 tonnes, representing 12.5 percent of the listed total of 2,628,401 tonnes. Türkiye ranked second with 309,804 tonnes, followed by Iran with 277,569 tonnes. On a per-person basis, Armenia led with 61.81 grams per day, ahead of Uzbekistan at 25.32 grams and Lebanon at 14.02 grams. The listed total fell by 4.9 percent from 2022 to 2023 and by 8.8 percent between 2019 and 2023. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.

Separated by Twenty Thousand

Uzbekistan led at 329,495 tonnes, 1.06 times Türkiye. Iran sat third at 277,569 tonnes overall, ahead of Algeria at 183,772 and Italy at 174,759. The top three held 34.9 percent of the 2,628,401-tonne total, and the top five 48.5 percent. Of all 166 countries in the table, 156 carried a 2023 value.

Pakistan Falls, Kazakhstan Jumps

Across the 154 countries in both 2022 and 2023, supply fell 4.9 percent, from 2,762,653 tonnes, a loss of 134,257. Pakistan shed 65,714 tonnes, down 34.1 percent, nearly half the net loss. Iraq shed 20,984 tonnes, down 36.6 percent overall. Uzbekistan shed 20,465 tonnes. Iran added 18,168 tonnes, up 7.0 percent overall, narrowly ahead of Kazakhstan's 18,119-tonne gain, up 70.8 percent from 25,607. Serbia shed 14,484 tonnes, down 62.5 percent overall. France shed 13,256 tonnes, down 12.7 percent. Two countries joined, adding 5 tonnes overall.

Türkiye Records the Largest Five-Year Decline by Volume

Among the 148 countries in both 2019 and 2023, supply fell 8.8 percent, from 2,883,493 tonnes, a loss of 255,098. Türkiye shed 51,263 tonnes, down 14.2 percent from 361,067. Russia added 50,279 tonnes, up 42.5 percent from 118,174. Ukraine shed 47,997 tonnes, down 57.9 percent. Uzbekistan shed 40,402 tonnes, down 10.9 percent. Morocco shed 38,303 tonnes, down 46.2 percent. Pakistan added 35,176 tonnes, up 38.3 percent. Italy shed 34,390 tonnes, down 16.4 percent. Afghanistan added 29,931 tonnes, up 40.6 percent. Nine countries left over the period, against eight arrivals overall.

Armenia Closes Tenth

Armenia closed the top ten at 66,400 tonnes while leading per person at 61.81 grams. Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Iran, Algeria and Italy also appeared in both top-ten rankings, showing that high total supply and high per-person supply are related but distinct measures. Afghanistan, eighth at 103,632 tonnes, sits outside the per-person top ten.

Armenia Leads Per Person

Armenia led the per-person ranking at 61.81 grams per day, followed by Uzbekistan at 25.32 and Lebanon at 14.02. Turkmenistan ranked fourth at 11.50 grams, ahead of Algeria at 10.91 and Libya at 10.50. Türkiye followed at 9.73 grams, with Iran at 8.39 and Italy at 8.05. Greece completed the top ten at 7.43 grams per person per day.
