Mexico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic rank among the largest avocado producers as a broad second tier reshapes global supply.

The map gives the geographic spread first; the country breakdown below shows where that 2024 volume is concentrated before the 2026 estimates are interpreted.

Mexico Leads a New Million-Tonne Chasing Tier

Mexico produced 2,761,328 tonnes in 2024, down from 2,973,344 tonnes in 2023 but still far ahead of every other country. Its 2026 estimate rises to 3,017,456 tonnes because the model reads 2023-2024 as a high recent base, not as a full reversal; 2024 was still about 318,000 tonnes above the 2021 level. Colombia and Dominican Republic both cleared 1.2 million tonnes in 2024. Peru and Indonesia sat just below the million-tonne line, which makes the second tier broad enough to matter even while Mexico stays first.

Latin America Adds More Than One Growth Engine

Colombia added 288,139 tonnes between 2021 and 2024, and Peru added 142,951 tonnes over the same period. Those gains make the regional supply base broader than Mexico alone. Dominican Republic is the largest recent mover in absolute terms after Mexico, increasing by 591,041 tonnes from 2021 to 2024. The 2026 estimate still eases below the latest reported figure because the jump from 2022 onward is large enough to be moderated.

Africa and Asia Are No Longer Small Side Notes

Kenya produced 585,000 tonnes in 2024, up from 416,803 tonnes in 2021. Because the gain is spread across several recent years, it reads more like a scaled-up production base than a one-season weather bonus. Indonesia reached 919,509 tonnes, almost level with Peru in the latest reported year, after rising from 669,000 tonnes in 2021. That gives Asia a top-five producer in the 2024 ranking, while Brazil, Morocco, and Zimbabwe show that mid-sized growth is also spreading outside the largest exporters.

Water, Orchard Investment, and Reporting Gaps Shape the Risk

Avocados are tied to orchard age, irrigation access, and local growing conditions, so fast expansion does not always translate into a smooth forecast. Australia, Israel, Lebanon, and Türkiye all show large recent moves that call for capped estimates. Türkiye is the clearest example of that conservative treatment. Output jumped from 9,081 tonnes in 2021 to 40,181 tonnes in 2022, slipped to 38,462 tonnes in 2023, then rose to 64,500 tonnes in 2024; because that path falls into the extreme volatility band without a strict three-year climb, the 2026 estimate is held at the recent median of 40,181 tonnes rather than pushed toward the 2024 high. Palestine is kept in the historical series because the source reports avocado production through 2022, but its 2023 and 2024 cells are blank. Its 2026 estimate is therefore based on the last valid country-specific window rather than on a current 2024 ranking.

2026 Estimates Keep Mexico First and Lift the Chasing Group

The 2026 estimates keep Mexico first at 3,017,456 tonnes. Colombia is estimated at 1,323,310 tonnes, while Dominican Republic remains close behind at 1,196,853 tonnes. Indonesia moves slightly ahead of Peru in the forecast, at 1,005,811 tonnes versus 986,152 tonnes. Kenya stays sixth at 629,587 tonnes, keeping Africa visible in the upper part of the avocado outlook.
