The table lists 167 countries; 166 reported a 2023 quantity, and the 2023 annual listed total is 184,992,869 tonnes. The 2023 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 1.89 times as much as the United States: 36,411,000 tonnes against 19,303,300, while Brazil ranks third with 17,886,670 tonnes, 1,416,630 tonnes behind the United States. The top two hold 30.1 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 17,886,670 and 12,266,796 tonnes respectively.

For malted barley beer production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 malted barley beer production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the malted barley beer production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For malted barley beer production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
