Blueberries Consumption by Country
The United States led the reported blueberry food supply in 2023, with 504,257 tonnes, or 44.1 percent of the listed total. Canada ranked second by volume and first per person, at 15.12 grams per person per day. Chile placed third by total volume after a sharp increase from 2022. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.
Blueberries by Country: Key Findings. The United States ranked first in blueberry food supply in 2023, followed by Canada and Chile. Together, the three countries accounted for 70.2 percent of the 1,142,939-tonne listed total. Canada recorded the highest per-person supply at 15.12 grams per person per day, ahead of Chile at 11.34 grams and Estonia at 7.25 grams. Across 76 countries with data in both 2022 and 2023, listed supply increased by approximately 16,607 tonnes. The figures describe food available for human consumption, not actual intake.
Mexico placed fourth at 76,127 tonnes, with Poland fifth at 51,639 and Germany sixth at 42,669. Spain, France, Australia and Italy filled the next four places between 17,510 and 31,133 tonnes. The top five held 81.4 percent of the listed total. Of 87 countries in the file, 81 carried a 2023 value. Chile added 75,225 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, rising from 6,135 to 81,360 tonnes. Mexico added 12,623 tonnes, up 19.9 percent. Morocco added 11,372 tonnes from 1.52 tonnes; both sharp moves from tiny bases should be checked against FAOSTAT records before being read as real growth. France added 4,080 tonnes, up 25.4 percent. The United States shed 63,217 tonnes, down 11.1 percent. Canada lost 15,250 tonnes, down 6.6 percent. Germany fell 9,903 tonnes, down 18.8 percent, and Poland 4,828 tonnes, down 8.6 percent. The 76 countries with reported values in both years moved from 1,125,969 tonnes to 1,142,576 tonnes, up 16,607 tonnes, or 1.5 percent. Angola, Mauritius, Mongolia, Saint Kitts and Nevis first reported values in 2023, while South Korea returned with 354.59 tonnes, totalling 363 tonnes. Between 2019 and 2023, the 60 countries with reported values in both years grew from 862,990 tonnes to 1,057,476 tonnes, up 194,486 tonnes, or 22.5 percent. The United States added 61,380 tonnes, up 13.9 percent, accounting for 31.6 percent of the net gain. Mexico added 29,578 tonnes, up 63.5 percent. Poland added 26,363 tonnes, up 104.3 percent, and Spain 22,773 tonnes, up 272.4 percent. Canada added 20,515 tonnes, up 10.4 percent. Italy added 13,685 tonnes, up 357.8 percent from a small base, and Australia 12,380 tonnes, up 192.1 percent. Germany lost 13,111 tonnes, down 23.5 percent. Five countries with 148 tonnes in 2019 were absent from the comparison, while 21 additional countries contributed 85,463 tonnes to the 2023 total, led by Chile. Canada recorded 15.12 grams per day, ahead of Chile at 11.34 and Estonia at 7.25. The United States followed at 4.02 grams, with Poland at 3.65 and Portugal at 3.46. Latvia, Austria, Australia and Spain followed below 3.3 grams. Canada combined the second-largest total supply with the highest per-person figure. Blueberries for human consumption are measured in tonnes and daily grams per person, country by country, over 2019-2023. The dataset includes 87 countries and areas that reported a value in at least one year; 81 have a reported value for 2023. Annual totals sum the reporting countries and areas for each year, excluding aggregate rows. Comparisons between years use only countries and areas with values at both endpoints. A reported zero is retained as supplied by FAO, while a blank cell indicates missing data. FAO Supply Utilization Accounts tag tonnage for human consumption as element 5141 and daily grams per person as element 665, both shown for blueberries across 2019-2023. Rates divide by the earlier year, and zero bases get no rate. Eighty-seven countries compose the universe less aggregates, 81 with 2023 values. Only countries present at both endpoints shape comparisons. The 2023 listed total of 1,142,939 tonnes adds the 81 countries reporting that year. A reported zero is distinct from a blank, and values below 1,000 always display two decimals.Blueberries Consumption

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Which country had the largest blueberry food supply in 2023?
The United States ranked first at 504,257 tonnes in 2023, accounting for 44.1 percent of the listed total in the same listed table that year, with Canada second.
Which country ranked first per person?
Canada led per person in 2023, followed by Chile at 11.34 grams and Estonia at 7.25 grams per day in the same listed table that year, ahead of the United States in fourth.
Why did Chile rise sharply in the rankings?
Chile's reported supply increased from 6,135 tonnes in 2022 to 81,360 tonnes in 2023. This large change should be checked against the source data before publication.
Did total supply increase from 2022 to 2023?
Yes. Across the 76 countries reporting in both years, the total rose from 1,125,969 to 1,142,576 tonnes, an increase of approximately 16,607 tonnes based on the displayed totals.
Do these figures show how much blueberries people actually ate?
No. They measure the reported food available for human consumption in the reference year, not the quantity of blueberries actually eaten by individual people.
