The table lists 158 countries; 156 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 165,494,873 tonnes. The 2024 country list for total citrus fruit production runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 2.58 times as much as Brazil: 47,697,178 tonnes against 18,507,971, while India ranks third with 14,552,508 tonnes, 3,955,463 tonnes behind Brazil. The top two hold 40.0 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 14,552,508 and 9,477,896 tonnes respectively.

Citrus Fruit; Total Production by Country in 2024

China was the largest citrus fruit producer in the 2024 listed data with 47,697,178 tonnes, followed by Brazil with 18,507,971 tonnes and India with 14,552,508 tonnes. Mexico ranked fourth with 9,477,896 tonnes.

China holds 28.8 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 48.8 percent of the 165,494,873-tonne listed total.

Türkiye Falls 2,396,406 Tonnes as Citrus Fruit; Total Production Drops 2.1 Percent Among Common Reporters

The common reporter universe (156 countries with data in both years) fell from 169,115,240 tonnes to 165,494,873 tonnes between 2023 and 2024, a change of -3,620,367 tonnes (-2.1 percent). The totals listed for each year were 169,229,033 tonnes (157 reporters) and 165,494,873 tonnes (156 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (113,793 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. Türkiye fell 2,396,406 tonnes (down 30.4 percent) and Brazil 2,004,144 tonnes (down 9.8 percent), while Egypt added 716,022 tonnes (up 13.9 percent).

China Adds 4,483,623 Tonnes as Citrus Fruit; Total Production Grows 4.2 Percent Among Common Reporters Since 2020

From 2020 to 2024 the common reporter universe (155 countries with data in both years) moved from 158,764,204 tonnes to 165,493,943 tonnes, a change of 6,729,739 tonnes (4.2 percent). The totals listed for each year were 158,904,092 tonnes (157 reporters) and 165,494,873 tonnes (156 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Nicaragua, 112,901 tonnes, and Palestine, 26,986 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while 1 new reporter added 930 tonnes (Vanuatu). China added 4,483,623 tonnes (up 10.4 percent), while the United States fell 2,369,289 tonnes (down 33.2 percent) and Türkiye added 1,132,834 tonnes (up 26.0 percent).

For total citrus fruit production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
