Other Citrus Fruit Supply by Country: Key Findings. China had the largest reported supply of other citrus fruit in 2023, at 4,950,421 tonnes, representing 44.9 percent of the listed total. Nigeria ranked second with 3,881,021 tonnes, followed by India with 650,998 tonnes. Together, the three countries accounted for 85.9 percent of the 11,035,888-tonne total. Nigeria had the highest reported supply per person, at 46.66 grams per day, ahead of Guinea at 42.16 grams. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.

China Leads by Total Supply

China led at 4,950,421 tonnes, 1.28 times Nigeria. India sat third at 650,998 tonnes, ahead of Angola at 448,222 and Guinea at 221,656. The top three held 85.9 percent of the 11,035,888-tonne total, and the top five 92.0 percent. Of all 155 countries in the file, 147 carried a 2023 value.

India Falls, Angola Rises

Across the 146 countries with reported values in both 2022 and 2023, supply eased 0.2 percent, from 11,062,114 tonnes, a loss of 26,247. India shed 58,666 tonnes, down 8.3 percent, exceeding the net loss. Angola added 27,891 tonnes, up 6.6 percent. China added 21,087 tonnes. Nigeria added 12,345 tonnes. Nepal shed 10,905 tonnes, down 51.5 percent. The United Kingdom shed 7,913 tonnes, down 89.2 percent from 8,869 tonnes; such a sharp move should be checked against FAOSTAT records. Ireland first reported 21.07 tonnes in 2023.

Colombia's Reported Supply Falls to Zero

Among the 141 countries with reported values in both 2019 and 2023, supply fell 6.8 percent, from 11,839,809 tonnes, a loss of 803,943. Colombia's reported supply fell to zero from 519,299 tonnes, most of the net loss. China shed 312,459 tonnes, down 5.9 percent. India shed 283,473 tonnes, down 30.3 percent. Nigeria added 219,294 tonnes, up 6.0 percent. Saudi Arabia added 68,750 tonnes from 2,495; its jump from 2019 should be checked against FAOSTAT records. Afghanistan shed 68,468 tonnes, down 71.1 percent. Eight countries with 2,284 tonnes in 2019 were absent from the comparison, while six additional countries contributed 21 tonnes to the 2023 total.

Other Leading Countries

Angola ranked fourth at 448,222 tonnes, adding 27,891 tonnes in the latest year and 67,808 over five. Guinea, fifth at 221,656 tonnes, ranked second per person at 42.16 grams. Tunisia, sixth at 130,094 tonnes, ranked fifth per person at 29.21 grams. Sierra Leone, seventh at 104,964 tonnes, ranked third per person at 33.99 grams. The Philippines ranked eighth at 93,662 tonnes, shedding 5,198 tonnes in the latest year. Kenya, ninth at 72,335 tonnes, sits outside the per-person top ten. Saudi Arabia closed the top ten at 71,245 tonnes, adding 68,750 from 2,495 over five.

Nigeria Leads per Person

Nigeria's 46.66 grams a day topped the per-person table, ahead of Guinea at 42.16 and Sierra Leone at 33.99. Angola followed at 33.42 grams and Tunisia at 29.21. Grenada sat at 26.70 grams. Suriname followed at 13.10 grams. Trinidad and Tobago sat at 10.77 grams. Samoa sat at 6.18 grams. China, the volume leader, reported 9.53 grams per person. Total tonnage and per-person figures describe different measures: the first reflects overall volume, the second adjusts for population.

What the Other Citrus Fruit Data Covers

This dataset follows the FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts item for other citrus fruit, n.e.c., from 2019 to 2023. It reports food supply in tonnes and grams per person per day. Annual totals include countries with reported values for each year, while year-to-year changes are calculated only for countries with values in both comparison years. The dataset contains 155 country rows, of which 147 have a reported value for 2023. Reported zeros are retained; blank entries are treated as missing data. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not actual dietary intake.
