Eggs from Other Birds in Shell, Fresh, n.e.c. Consumption by Country
China recorded the largest food supply of eggs from other birds in shell, fresh, n.e.c., in 2023, at 4,567,033 tonnes, or about 81.3 percent of the listed total. Thailand ranked second with 307,415 tonnes, followed by Indonesia with 263,285 tonnes. On a per-person basis, Tuvalu ranked first at 12.23 grams a day, ahead of Thailand at 11.75 grams. The listed 2023 total was 5,617,111 tonnes, and 138 of the 143 country rows reported a value for that year, 116 of them above zero. These FAOSTAT figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.
Bangladesh placed fourth by volume at 191,683 tonnes, and the three leading countries together accounted for about 91.5 percent of the listed 2023 total, with China alone supplying roughly 81.3 percent. Romania lost 2,447 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, down 73.3 percent to 890.69 tonnes. Afghanistan lost 1,870 tonnes, down 63.0 percent, and Albania shed 1,507 tonnes, down 92.2 percent. Iraq added 7,104 tonnes, up 174.8 percent, Saudi Arabia added 12,998 tonnes, up 106.8 percent, and China added 136,105 tonnes, up 3.1 percent. The 135 countries with a value in both years rose from 5,464,514 tonnes to 5,617,107 tonnes, up 152,593 tonnes, or 2.8 percent, with Costa Rica, Mauritius and Micronesia joining and none leaving. Between 2019 and 2023, the 124 countries with a value in both years rose from 5,357,961 tonnes to 5,616,971 tonnes, up 259,010 tonnes, or 4.8 percent. Brazil recorded the largest decline, losing 132,376 tonnes, down 82.4 percent. Myanmar shed 29,494 tonnes, down 62.2 percent, and Russia gave up 8,998 tonnes, down 27.3 percent. China recorded the largest increase, adding 324,878 tonnes, up 7.7 percent, while Bangladesh added 60,803 tonnes, up 46.5 percent, and Indonesia added 19,266 tonnes, up 7.9 percent. Fourteen countries entered the comparison with 2023 values and no 2019 value, while Djibouti, Guyana and Solomon Islands left it. Tuvalu recorded 12.23 grams a day in 2023, ahead of Thailand at 11.75 grams in second and Nauru at 10.71 grams in third. China sat fourth at 8.80 grams. Tuvalu ranked first in per-capita supply despite its small total volume. Eggs from other birds in shell, fresh, n.e.c., available for human consumption are recorded in tonnes and in grams per person per day for each reporting country over 2019-2023. This category is separate from the common hen-egg item and names no individual species beyond the source label. Annual totals sum reporting countries only, excluding regional aggregates. Twenty-two countries reported zero tonnes in 2023, including Belgium after 666.66 tonnes in 2022, so that drop warrants a source check. A reported zero is a recorded value and a blank cell is missing data, so the five rows without a 2023 value cannot be read as zero supply. The data come from FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts for 2019-2023. Element 5141 reports food supply for human consumption in tonnes, while element 665 reports food supply in grams per capita per day, for eggs from other birds in shell, fresh, n.e.c. The annual listed total sums reporting countries with available values and excludes regional aggregates. Of the 143 country rows, 138 reported a value in 2023 and 116 of those were above zero. Year-to-year and five-year changes are calculated using countries with reported values at both endpoints, which gives 135 countries for 2022-2023 and 124 for 2019-2023. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the base and are not calculated when that base is zero. Reported zeros are retained, blank cells are treated as missing data, and values under 1,000 tonnes are shown to two decimal places.

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Who ranks first in per-capita supply?
Tuvalu ranked first in the 2023 data at 12.23 grams per person per day, followed by Thailand at 11.75 grams and Nauru at 10.71 grams overall.
How concentrated is the reported supply?
China accounted for about 81.3 percent of the listed 2023 total, and the three leading countries together held about 91.5 percent of it in that year.
Which country recorded the largest latest-year decline?
Romania lost 2,447 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, down 73.3 percent to 890.69 tonnes, the largest decline by tonnage among the reporting countries that year.
Does food supply equal actual consumption?
No. The indicator measures the amount available for human consumption, not the quantity ultimately eaten, so it should not be read as a direct measure of individual intake.
How did Brazil's supply change over five years?
Brazil's reported supply fell from 160,643 tonnes in 2019 to 28,267 tonnes in 2023, a decline of 132,376 tonnes, or about 82.4 percent over that span.
