Eggs from Other Birds in Shell; Fresh; n.e.c. Production by Country
Indonesia remained the fourth-largest producer of other bird eggs, adding 40,794 tonnes between 2023 and 2024 and accounting for 51.3 percent of the increase among common reporters. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Eggs from other birds in shell; fresh; n.e.c., 2020-2024, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 39 countries, all of which reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 6,300,923 tonnes. The 2024 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
In 2024, China was the largest listed producer of eggs from other birds in shell; fresh; n.e.c., with 5,023,200 tonnes, followed by Thailand with 400,000 tonnes and Bangladesh with 327,700 tonnes. The 39 countries in the dataset produced a combined 6,300,923 tonnes. China accounted for 79.7 percent of the listed total, while the top three producers accounted for 91.3 percent.
China produced 12.56 times as much as Thailand: 5,023,200 tonnes against 400,000, while Bangladesh ranks third with 327,700 tonnes, 72,300 tonnes behind Thailand. The top two hold 86.1 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 327,700 and 269,311 tonnes respectively. China was the largest other bird eggs producer in the 2024 listed data with 5,023,200 tonnes, followed by Thailand with 400,000 tonnes and Bangladesh with 327,700 tonnes. Indonesia ranked fourth with 269,311 tonnes. China holds 79.7 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 91.3 percent of the 6,300,923-tonne listed total. From 2023 to 2024 the common reporter universe (39 countries with data in both years) moved from 6,221,347 tonnes to 6,300,923 tonnes, a change of 79,576 tonnes (1.3 percent). The totals listed for each year were 6,221,347 tonnes (39 reporters) and 6,300,923 tonnes (39 reporters); no country exited and no new reporter joined. Indonesia added 40,794 tonnes (up 17.9 percent) and China 35,014 tonnes (up 0.7 percent), while Bangladesh added 5,100 tonnes (up 1.6 percent). Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (39 countries with data in both years) rose from 6,127,445 tonnes to 6,300,923 tonnes, a change of 173,478 tonnes (2.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 6,127,445 tonnes (39 reporters) and 6,300,923 tonnes (39 reporters); no reporter present in 2020 is absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. China added 168,000 tonnes (up 3.5 percent) and Bangladesh 88,100 tonnes (up 36.8 percent), while Indonesia fell 79,987 tonnes (down 22.9 percent). Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Eggs from other birds in shell; fresh; n.e.c., 2020-2024. For other bird eggs production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 other bird eggs production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the other bird eggs production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For other bird eggs production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
How much of the 2024 increase came from Indonesia?
Indonesia added 40,794 tonnes (up 17.9 percent) against a common-universe gain of 79,576 tonnes, accounting for 51.3 percent of the increase. China added a further 35,014 tonnes (up 0.7 percent).
How did Indonesia fall since 2020 while gaining in 2024?
Indonesia added 40,794 tonnes (up 17.9 percent) in 2024 but stands 79,987 tonnes (down 22.9 percent) below its 2020 level of 349,298 tonnes. Indonesia reports in all three endpoint years, so both moves sit inside their change universes.
How many countries are included in the 2024 data?
The 2024 dataset includes 39 countries. All 39 reported a quantity for 2024, and the same 39 countries also reported quantities in 2020 and 2023, so the 2020–2024 and 2023–2024 comparisons use the same reporter universe.
