Meat of Turkeys, Fresh or Chilled Consumption by Country
The United States recorded the largest turkey meat food supply in 2023, at 2,312,689 tonnes, or about 45.6 percent of the listed total. Germany ranked second at 408,109 tonnes, followed by France at 227,038 tonnes. Israel led per person at 27.85 grams a day. The listed 2023 total was 5,074,018 tonnes, and 172 of the 173 country rows reported a value for that year, 168 of them above zero. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.
Which countries have the highest turkey meat food supply?
The United States ranked first in turkey meat food supply in 2023, with 2,312,689 tonnes, followed by Germany with 408,109 tonnes and France with 227,038 tonnes. Israel ranked first in food supply per person at 27.85 grams a day, ahead of Tunisia at 21.34 grams. The figures represent food available for human consumption, rather than a direct measure of how much people ate.
Poland placed fourth by volume at 210,875 tonnes, and the three leading countries together accounted for about 58.1 percent of the listed 2023 total, with the United States alone supplying roughly 45.6 percent. Poland lost 46,169 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, down 18.0 percent to 210,875 tonnes. Brazil lost 31,040 tonnes, down 30.4 percent, and Ghana shed 11,381 tonnes, down 94.9 percent. Morocco added 14,522 tonnes, up 12.1 percent, Mexico added 24,812 tonnes, up 20.5 percent, and the United States added 38,937 tonnes, up 1.7 percent. The 171 countries with a value in both years rose from 5,040,420 tonnes to 5,074,017 tonnes, up 33,597 tonnes, or 0.7 percent, with Pakistan joining the comparison and none leaving. Between 2019 and 2023, the 169 countries with a value in both years fell from 5,617,446 tonnes to 5,072,359 tonnes, down 545,087 tonnes, or 9.7 percent. Brazil recorded the largest decline, losing 416,647 tonnes, down 85.4 percent. The United States shed 91,698 tonnes, down 3.8 percent, and Germany gave up 75,810 tonnes, down 15.7 percent. Tunisia added 28,907 tonnes, up 43.7 percent, Morocco added 74,814 tonnes, up 126.1 percent, and Poland added 158,976 tonnes, up 306.4 percent. Mongolia, Pakistan and Venezuela entered the comparison with 2023 values and no 2019 value, while Cuba left it. Israel recorded 27.85 grams a day in 2023, ahead of Tunisia at 21.34 grams in second and Grenada at 18.95 grams in third. The United States sat fourth at 18.45 grams. Israel ranked first per person despite ranking below the largest countries by total volume. Fresh or chilled turkey meat available for human consumption is recorded in tonnes and in grams per person per day for each reporting country over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only, and the listed total is not a world figure that includes regional aggregates. Total food supply measures available quantity, not flock size, and the per-person figure does not describe how individuals actually eat. Four countries reported zero tonnes in 2023: Belarus, Burkina Faso, Myanmar and Russia. Burkina Faso fell from 0.65 tonnes in 2022 and Myanmar from 3.89 tonnes, and such changes describe the reported data without explaining why the figures changed. Brazil's five-year fall ends at 71,219 tonnes yet still reports a positive value. The data come from FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts, using element 5141 for food supply quantity in tonnes and element 665 for food supply quantity in grams per capita per day, for meat of turkeys, fresh or chilled, over 2019-2023. Of the 173 country rows, 172 reported a value in 2023 and 168 of those were above zero. Comparisons between two years use only countries with values at both endpoints, which gives 171 countries for 2022-2023 and 169 for 2019-2023, and the country count and both totals come from that shared set. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the base and are not calculated when the base-year value is zero. Reported zeros are kept as values, blank cells are treated as missing data, and values under 1,000 tonnes are shown to two decimal places.

The United States ranked first at 2,312,689 tonnes, followed by Germany at 408,109 tonnes and France at 227,038 tonnes in the 2023 table for that year.
How much turkey meat was available per person in Israel?

How sharply did Brazil's reported turkey meat supply fall?
Brazil fell from 487,866 tonnes in 2019 to 71,219 tonnes in 2023, a decline of 416,647 tonnes, or about 85.4 percent over that five-year span.
Did listed supply rise or fall between 2022 and 2023?
The 171-country common set rose from 5,040,420 tonnes to 5,074,017 tonnes, up 33,597 tonnes, or about 0.7 percent in the latest year for that set.
Does food supply data measure actual turkey consumption?
No. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount actually eaten, and they should not be read as direct measurements of individual dietary intake.
