Molasses Consumption by Country
FAO Supply Utilization Accounts record molasses available for human consumption, in tonnes and in grams per person per day, from 2019 through 2023. The file covers 12 reporters; 11 of them carry a 2023 value, adding to a listed total of 91,268 tonnes — 99.3 percent of it Filipino. The table fell 9.4 percent in five years, then rebounded 4.3 percent in one.
The Philippines reported 90,626 tonnes in 2023, at 2.16 grams per person per day — the largest supply and the highest per-capita figure. The common total moved from 100,776 tonnes to 91,267, down 9,509 tonnes or 9.4 percent across 10 reporters. The Philippines fell 9,520 tonnes (down 9.5 percent) — 100.1 percent of the net decrease — with Bhutan down 235 (down 42.9 percent); Armenia added 144 from zero and Bahrain 102 (up 272.7 percent), while Lesotho fell 2 (down 4.0 percent). The latest year added 3,791 tonnes or 4.3 percent across 11 reporters, with the Philippines adding 3,955 (up 4.6 percent), Armenia 88 (up 157.5 percent) and Lesotho 36 (up 531.6 percent), while Bahrain fell 293 (down 67.6 percent) and Tonga 26 (down 98.9 percent); Bhutan added 28 (up 9.9 percent). Comoros's 0.82 tonnes left while Tonga entered at 0.28 tonnes. The Philippines' 90,626 tonnes top the 2023 table at 99.3 percent of the listed total, 290.26 times Bhutan's 312.22 in second. Armenia follows at 143.6 with Bahrain at 139.97; the top three hold 99.8 percent and the top five 100.0 percent. Lesotho, the Marshall Islands, the Maldives and Tonga follow — all under 50 tonnes. Per person, the Philippines also stands first at 2.16 grams — first by volume and first per person — with Bhutan at 1.09, Bahrain at 0.24, Armenia at 0.13 and the Marshall Islands at 0.10 behind. The FAO item covers molasses as classified by FAO. Food supply quantity captures what was available for human consumption during the reference year. The gram-per-day figure spreads that availability across the population on a daily basis. The Philippines had the largest 2023 listed molasses supply at 90,626 tonnes and the highest per-capita figure at 2.16 grams per person per day, accounting for 99.3 percent of the 91,268-tonne listed total across 11 reporters. On a common-reporter basis, the listed total fell 9.4 percent from 2019 to 2023. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount actually eaten. The universe is twelve reporters deep: every reporter with a value in any year from 2019 through 2023, shown without World, regional or China (aggregate) rows — China here means the China reporter. Percentages anchor on the earlier of the two endpoint years for reporters present in both; zero-base years get none. A reported zero counts as zero, while a blank cell means nothing was reported. FAO Supply Utilization Accounts food supply quantity, element 5141 in tonnes for totals and element 665 in grams per capita per day, follows molasses over 2019-2023. The counted object is availability for human consumption in the reference year, not intake. The 2023 listed total of 91,268 tonnes sums the 11 reporters with a 2023 value, in tonnes as published.
