Molasses Production by Country
Brazil stayed the largest molasses producer while adding 2,213,833 tonnes and Denmark climbed from 67,000 tonnes to 2,255,545 tonnes. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Molasses, 2019-2023, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 122 countries; 121 reported a 2023 quantity, and the 2023 annual listed total is 73,285,082 tonnes. The 2023 country list for molasses production runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
Brazil produced 1.27 times as much as India: 18,301,393 tonnes against 14,399,167, while China ranks third with 5,231,262 tonnes, 9,167,905 tonnes behind India. The top two hold 44.6 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 5,231,262 and 4,378,715 tonnes respectively. Brazil was the largest molasses producer in the 2023 listed data with 18,301,393 tonnes, followed by India with 14,399,167 tonnes and China with 5,231,262 tonnes. The United States ranked fourth with 4,378,715 tonnes. Brazil holds 25.0 percent of the listed 2023 total. The top three together hold 51.8 percent of the 73,285,082-tonne listed total. Between 2022 and 2023, the common reporter universe (121 countries with data in both years) rose from 70,507,066 tonnes to 73,285,082 tonnes, a change of 2,778,016 tonnes (3.9 percent). The totals listed for each year were 70,507,066 tonnes (121 reporters) and 73,285,082 tonnes (121 reporters); no country exited and no new reporter joined. Brazil added 2,213,833 tonnes (up 13.8 percent) and China 496,706 tonnes (up 10.5 percent), while Pakistan fell 487,543 tonnes (down 13.5 percent) and Ukraine added 396,003 tonnes (up 135.0 percent). From 2019 to 2023 the common reporter universe (120 countries with data in both years) moved from 63,833,599 tonnes to 73,285,056 tonnes, a change of 9,451,457 tonnes (14.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 63,833,603 tonnes (121 reporters) and 73,285,082 tonnes (121 reporters); 1 reporter present in 2019 (4.3 tonnes, Ireland) is absent in 2023, while 1 new reporter added 25.62 tonnes (Uzbekistan). Brazil added 6,006,393 tonnes (up 48.9 percent), while the United States added 2,075,715 tonnes (up 90.1 percent) and Thailand fell 1,785,417 tonnes (down 30.4 percent). Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Molasses, 2019-2023. For molasses production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 molasses production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the molasses production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For molasses production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions
How did Denmark move since 2019?
Denmark rose from 67,000 tonnes in 2019 to 2,255,545 tonnes in 2023, a change of 2,188,545 tonnes. The 2019 base is small next to the table's scale, so no percent is attached; Denmark reports in both years, so the climb sits inside the change universe.
Where did Ireland go in 2023?
Ireland reported 4.3 tonnes in 2019 and nothing in 2023. Blank cells mean not reported rather than zero, so Ireland sits outside the 2019-2023 change universe while shaping the 2019 listed total.
Why did Pakistan fall in 2023?
Pakistan fell from 3,612,100 tonnes in 2022 to 3,124,557 tonnes in 2023, a change of -487,543 tonnes (down 13.5 percent). Pakistan reports in both years, so the fall sits inside the change universe.
