Oil of Palm Kernel Production by Country
Indonesia stayed the largest oil of palm kernel producer while adding 133,200 tonnes and Brazil fell to a reported zero. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Oil of palm kernel, 2019-2023, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 46 countries, all of which reported a 2023 quantity, and the 2023 annual listed total is 8,362,818 tonnes. The 2023 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
Indonesia produced 2.35 times as much as Malaysia: 4,968,400 tonnes against 2,116,509, while Thailand ranks third with 308,400 tonnes, 1,808,109 tonnes behind Malaysia. The top two hold 84.7 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 308,400 and 167,900 tonnes respectively. Indonesia was the largest oil of palm kernel producer in the 2023 listed data with 4,968,400 tonnes, followed by Malaysia with 2,116,509 tonnes and Thailand with 308,400 tonnes. Nigeria ranked fourth with 167,900 tonnes. Indonesia holds 59.4 percent of the listed 2023 total. The top three together hold 88.4 percent of the 8,362,818-tonne listed total. From 2022 to 2023 the common reporter universe (46 countries with data in both years) moved from 8,213,341 tonnes to 8,362,818 tonnes, a change of 149,477 tonnes (1.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 8,213,341 tonnes (46 reporters) and 8,362,818 tonnes (46 reporters); no country exited and no new reporter joined. Indonesia added 133,200 tonnes (up 2.8 percent) and Malaysia 19,596 tonnes (up 0.9 percent), while Honduras fell 17,200 tonnes (down 25.1 percent). Between 2019 and 2023, the common reporter universe (42 countries with data in both years) rose from 8,131,781 tonnes to 8,359,726 tonnes, a change of 227,945 tonnes (2.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 8,131,781 tonnes (42 reporters) and 8,362,818 tonnes (46 reporters); no reporter present in 2019 is absent in 2023, while 4 new reporters joined (largest: Congo, 3,065 tonnes). Indonesia added 390,800 tonnes (up 8.5 percent), while Malaysia fell 205,675 tonnes (down 8.9 percent) and Brazil fell 62,000 tonnes to a reported zero (down 100.0 percent). Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Oil of palm kernel, 2019-2023. For oil of palm kernel production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 oil of palm kernel production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the oil of palm kernel production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For oil of palm kernel production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
What happened to Brazil's output?
Brazil reported 62,000 tonnes in 2019 and a reported zero in 2023. Zero means a reported nil flow rather than a gap, so the -62,000-tonne move (down 100.0 percent) sits inside the change universe.
Who are the new reporters since 2019?
Four: Congo with 3,065 tonnes, the Netherlands with 27.07 tonnes, Brunei with a reported zero and Italy with a reported zero, all in 2023. Blank cells mean not reported rather than zero, so the group sits outside the 2019-2023 change universe.
Why is no rate attached to DR Congo?
The country rose from 2,093 tonnes in 2019 to 16,400 tonnes in 2023, a change of 14,307 tonnes. The 2019 base is small next to the table's scale, so no percent is attached; the country reports in both years, so the climb sits inside the change universe.
