Which country has the highest food supply of other fruit n.e.c., dried? China ranked first in 2023, with 290,938 tonnes of food supply for other fruit n.e.c., dried, representing about 30.2 percent of the annual listed total of 964,575 tonnes. Thailand ranked second at 75,246 tonnes, followed by Kazakhstan at 67,861 tonnes. Per person, Oman ranked first at 9.21 grams per person per day, narrowly ahead of Kazakhstan at 9.15 grams. These FAO figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.

India placed fourth at 61,182 tonnes, with Vietnam fifth at 37,804 and the United States sixth at 29,978. Türkiye, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Niger closed the top ten between 20,074 and 28,439 tonnes. The top three held 45.0 percent of the annual listed food supply total, and the top five 55.3 percent.

Thailand Records the Largest Annual Increase

Thailand recorded the largest increase in food supply of other fruit n.e.c., dried, between 2022 and 2023, rising by 49,084 tonnes, or 187.6 percent, to 75,246 tonnes. Kazakhstan increased by 25,148 tonnes (58.9 percent), while Vietnam added 12,474 tonnes (49.2 percent) and India added 8,401 tonnes (15.9 percent). China declined by 28,944 tonnes (9.0 percent). Uzbekistan fell by 26,612 tonnes (80.3 percent), Spain by 20,347 tonnes (79.4 percent), and Tajikistan by 17,757 tonnes (89.4 percent). Across the 167 countries and areas with reported values in both years, the listed total rose from 949,271 to 964,575 tonnes, an increase of 15,304 tonnes, or about 1.6 percent.

Five-Year Changes in Dried Other Fruit Supply

Between 2019 and 2023, the 165 countries present in both years advanced from 843,830 tonnes to 964,568 tonnes, up 120,738 tonnes, or 14.3 percent. Thailand added 55,752 tonnes, up 286.0 percent, accounting for 46.2 percent of the net gain. Kazakhstan added 41,817 tonnes, up 160.6 percent. Vietnam added 30,306 tonnes, up 404.2 percent. Bangladesh added 14,167 tonnes, up 202.1 percent. Italy added 13,483 tonnes, rising from 595 tonnes; the very small starting value produces a very large percentage, so the tonnage change is the more meaningful figure. Myanmar lost 28,162 tonnes, down 97.0 percent. Tajikistan shed 24,279 tonnes, down 92.0 percent. The United Kingdom fell 13,125 tonnes, down 55.8 percent. Two countries left with 5 tonnes, against two arrivals with 6.

Food Supply per Person

Oman ranked first in 2023 food supply of other fruit n.e.c., dried, at 9.21 grams per person per day, narrowly ahead of Kazakhstan at 9.15 grams. Bhutan ranked third at 3.75 grams, followed by Thailand at 2.88 grams. Bulgaria recorded 2.62 grams, while the Czech Republic and Taiwan reported 2.20 and 2.12 grams, respectively. Niger, Romania and Mauritania were close to two grams per person per day. China led by total volume but did not rank among the ten highest countries on the per-person measure.

What the Data Measures

Dried fruits beyond the named kinds are bundled here, in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum the 169 reporting countries and areas, 167 with reported 2023 values.

Myanmar fell 97.0 percent across five years to 869 tonnes, while Tajikistan fell 92.0 percent across five years and 89.4 percent in the latest year yet still reports. The Netherlands has reported zero since 2020 after 13.46 tonnes in 2019. The dataset retains reported zero values and distinguishes them from blank cells, which indicate missing data. Large changes, including sharp declines to zero or near-zero values, should be checked against the original FAOSTAT records before being interpreted as real changes in food availability.

Methodology

FAO Supply Utilization Accounts report food supply of other fruit n.e.c., dried, in tonnes under element 5141 and in grams per person per day under element 665. This page covers 2019-2023. Annual listed totals sum the reporting countries and areas with a value for the relevant year; aggregate rows are excluded. Year-to-year comparisons include only countries and areas with values in both years. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the base and are not calculated when that value is zero. Reported zeros are retained, while blank cells indicate missing values. The figures measure food available for human consumption, not actual dietary intake.
