Other Tropical Fruits, n.e.c., by Country
India recorded the largest food supply in the FAO category "Other tropical fruits, n.e.c." in 2023, at 5,149,187 tonnes. This represented 28.8 percent of the 17,874,926-tonne annual listed total across 143 countries with reported values. China ranked second at 2,557,547 tonnes, followed by Indonesia at 1,547,133 tonnes. On a per-person basis, Antigua and Barbuda led at 171.72 grams per day. These figures describe food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually ate.
Which country had the highest food supply of other tropical fruits in 2023? India ranked first by volume, with 5,149,187 tonnes, accounting for 28.8 percent of the annual listed total. China followed with 2,557,547 tonnes and Indonesia with 1,547,133 tonnes. Antigua and Barbuda recorded the highest per-person figure, at 171.72 grams per day. The category covers other tropical fruits not separately identified in this FAO classification; its food-supply figures are not direct measurements of actual intake.
The Philippines ranked fourth at 1,508,259 tonnes, followed by Bangladesh at 1,126,609 tonnes and Brazil at 1,028,702 tonnes. Thailand, Iran, Colombia and Malaysia completed the top ten. India, China and Indonesia together accounted for 51.8 percent of the annual listed total, while the top five countries represented 66.5 percent. These shares show that the reported supply was concentrated among a relatively small group of countries, even though the dataset covered a much wider reporting universe. Across the 139 countries with values in both 2022 and 2023, combined listed food supply rose from 17,724,954 to 17,874,794 tonnes, an increase of 149,840 tonnes, or about 0.8 percent. China recorded the largest increase, adding 262,409 tonnes to reach 2,557,547 tonnes. Spain gained 67,018 tonnes, while Indonesia rose by 25,101 tonnes. Thailand recorded the largest decline, falling by 129,143 tonnes to 1,002,731 tonnes. India's total decreased by 30,181 tonnes. Saudi Arabia fell from 19,106 tonnes to 279.54 tonnes, while Rwanda and Peru also recorded substantial declines. Albania, Botswana, Cameroon and Mongolia first reported values in 2023, totalling about 132 tonnes; Eswatini reported 0.20 tonnes in 2022 with a blank entry in 2023, which is missing data rather than a reported zero. For the 132 countries with reported values in both 2019 and 2023, combined listed supply rose from 16,367,934 to 17,871,634 tonnes, an increase of 1,503,700 tonnes, or 9.2 percent. Brazil added 771,097 tonnes, up 299.3 percent, accounting for 51.3 percent of the net gain. Malaysia added 350,495 tonnes, up 819.9 percent from 42,746. China added 335,604 tonnes, up 15.1 percent. Italy added 233,984 tonnes from 125.03; such an extreme move from a tiny base should be checked against FAOSTAT records before being read as real growth. Bangladesh added 227,791 tonnes, up 25.3 percent. Haiti added 138,409 tonnes from 2,078, likewise from a very small base. Pakistan lost 351,880 tonnes, down 90.4 percent. India gave up 129,982 tonnes, down 2.5 percent. Cuba and Kuwait stopped reporting values after 2019, removing 6,482 tonnes from the annual total; eleven countries first reported values in the window, adding 3,292 tonnes to the 2023 total. Antigua and Barbuda recorded the highest food supply per person in 2023, at 171.72 grams per day. Tuvalu ranked second at 161.38 grams, followed by Nauru at 102.52 grams and Saint Kitts and Nevis at 71.75 grams. Saint Lucia recorded 44.41 grams per person per day, while Thailand led among the larger continental suppliers at 38.31 grams. India ranked first by total volume but did not appear among the ten highest per-person values. Small populations can produce high per-person estimates even when a country's total tonnage is modest. The dataset covers the FAO category "Other tropical fruits, n.e.c." and reports food supply in tonnes and grams per person per day for 2019-2023. The dataset includes 147 countries and areas that reported a value in at least one year; 143 have a reported value for 2023. Annual listed totals sum the reporting countries and areas for each year, excluding aggregate rows. Year-to-year and five-year changes use only countries with values at both endpoints, with newly reporting and no-longer-reporting countries accounted for separately. Vanuatu reported 1,675 tonnes in 2021 and a reported zero in both 2022 and 2023. A reported zero is retained as supplied by FAO, while a blank cell indicates missing data. Sharp falls to zero should be checked against the original FAOSTAT records before being interpreted as real changes in availability. These figures describe food available for human consumption and do not directly measure actual intake. FAO Supply Utilization Accounts report other tropical fruit food supply in tonnes under element 5141 and in grams per person per day under element 665. This page covers the 2019-2023 period. Annual totals sum the reporting countries and areas with a value for the relevant year; aggregate rows are excluded. Year-to-year comparisons include only countries and areas with values in both comparison years. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the base and are not calculated when that value is zero. Reported zeros are retained, while blank cells indicate missing values. These figures describe food available for human consumption and should not be interpreted as direct measurements of the amount people actually eat.
