Quinces Consumption by Country
Türkiye had the largest reported quince food supply in 2023, at 157,095 tonnes, representing 25.0 percent of the listed total. China ranked second with 99,290 tonnes, followed by Uzbekistan with 87,337 tonnes. Together, these three countries accounted for 54.8 percent of the 627,499-tonne total. Azerbaijan had the highest reported food supply per person, at 9.69 grams per day, ahead of Uzbekistan at 6.71 grams. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount actually eaten.
Quince Supply by Country: Key Findings. Türkiye ranked first by total volume in 2023, followed by China and Uzbekistan. Azerbaijan ranked first per person. Total tonnage and per-person figures describe different measures: the first reflects overall volume, the second adjusts for population.
Leading Quince-Supplying Countries
Türkiye led at 157,095 tonnes, 1.58 times China. Uzbekistan sat third at 87,337 tonnes, ahead of Iran at 82,803 and Morocco at 39,884. The top three held 54.8 percent of the 627,499-tonne total, and the top five 74.3 percent. Argentina ranked seventh at 27,134 tonnes, followed by Russia at 13,951 and Algeria at 10,169. Serbia closed the top ten at 9,764 tonnes. Of all 121 countries in the file, 102 carried a 2023 value.
Across the 101 countries with reported values in both 2022 and 2023, supply eased 1.9 percent, from 639,411 tonnes, a loss of 11,913. Morocco recorded the largest decline, shedding 6,558 tonnes, down 14.1 percent. Uzbekistan added 4,602 tonnes, up 5.6 percent. Bosnia and Herzegovina shed 4,229 tonnes, down 62.2 percent. Türkiye shed 3,541 tonnes, down 2.2 percent. Algeria added 2,058 tonnes, up 25.4 percent. Azerbaijan shed 1,877 tonnes, while Georgia shed 1,474 and Mexico 1,183. Mauritius first reported 0.91 tonnes in 2023. Among the 94 countries with reported values in both 2019 and 2023, supply grew 3.9 percent, from 603,706 tonnes, a gain of 23,792. Uzbekistan added 10,044 tonnes, up 13.0 percent, most of the net rise. Türkiye added 7,825 tonnes, up 5.2 percent. Morocco added 3,610 tonnes, up 10.0 percent. Iran added 2,902 tonnes. Mexico shed 2,880 tonnes, down 61.0 percent. Peru shed 2,434 tonnes, down 44.7 percent. Russia added 2,141 tonnes, up 18.1 percent. Eight countries with 504 tonnes in 2019 were absent from the comparison, while eight additional countries contributed about 2 tonnes to the 2023 total. Azerbaijan's 9.69 grams a day topped the per-person table, ahead of Uzbekistan at 6.71 and Albania at 5.36. Türkiye followed at 4.93 grams and Serbia at 3.95. Uruguay sat at 3.53 grams. Moldova followed at 3.18 grams. Morocco sat at 2.90 grams. Iran followed at 2.50 grams. Bosnia and Herzegovina closed the per-person top ten at 2.21 grams. Hungary rose from a reported zero in 2022 to 371.72 tonnes in 2023, while Chile fell to a reported zero in 2023. Reported zeros are retained as supplied; blank cells indicate missing data. This dataset follows the FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts item for quinces from 2019 through 2023. It reports food supply available for human consumption in tonnes and grams per person per day. Annual totals include countries with reported values for the relevant year, while year-to-year comparisons use only countries with values at both endpoints. The dataset contains 121 country rows after World, regional and aggregate entries are excluded; 102 countries have a reported value for 2023. Reported zeros are retained, while blank entries are treated as missing data. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the baseline and are not calculated from a zero baseline. For quinces, tonnage follows element 5141 and daily grams follow element 665 across 2019 to 2023. A change is measured from the earlier year; none is stated from a zero base. Only countries present in both compared years enter a change. A reported zero is not a blank, and blanks never stand in for zeros. Türkiye leads volume while Azerbaijan leads per person. The file holds 121 countries after removing World, regional and aggregate rows; 102 carry 2023 values. The numbers describe food available for human consumption.
