Silver Production by Country
Silver production by country shows how much silver is mined in each country, measured in tonnes. The figures refer to mine production in terms of silver content, in line with the underlying sources. The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for the earlier years (2019-2024), built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table covers 75 countries included in the underlying data during the period. USGS reports 2025 estimates for 14 countries, which produced a combined 23,830 tonnes in 2025; together with the "Other countries" value of 2,100 tonnes, this totals 25,930 tonnes, which is 70 tonnes below the reported World total of 26,000 tonnes in the source. The remaining countries retain their latest available figures from the earlier series, mostly from 2023.
Largest Silver-Producing Countries in 2025
Mexico produced the most silver in 2025 with 6,300 tonnes. Peru ranked second with 3,600, followed by China (3,400), Bolivia (1,500), Chile (1,400), Poland (1,300), Russia (1,200), the United States (1,100), Australia (1,000), and Argentina (800).
Silver Production by Country
Mexico alone accounted for about 24 percent of the World total in 2025, and Mexico and Peru together for about 38 percent; the top three countries accounted for about 51 percent. Mexico's output was about 1.8 times that of Peru. Nine countries produced at least 1,000 tonnes in 2025.
Silver Production Around the World
In North America, Mexico (6,300) is the largest producer, ahead of the United States (1,100) and Canada (400). In South America, Peru (3,600) leads, ahead of Bolivia (1,500), Chile (1,400), and Argentina (800); Brazil (102.6, 2023) and Ecuador (53.6, 2023) retain older values.
In Asia, China (3,400) is the largest producer, ahead of India (800) and Kazakhstan (630); Indonesia (300, 2023), Uzbekistan (239.5, 2023), and Mongolia (76.7, 2023) retain older values. In Europe, Poland (1,300) leads, ahead of Russia (1,200), Sweden (400), and Turkey (96.13, 2023); Spain (88.8, 2023), Portugal (88.7, 2023), and Bulgaria (23.4, 2023) retain older values. In Oceania, Australia (1,000) leads, ahead of Papua New Guinea (140, 2023) and New Zealand (5.55, 2023); Fiji (0.6, 2023) and the Solomon Islands (0.22, 2023) retain older values.
Largest Changes in Silver Production, 2024-2025
Mexico recorded the largest increase, rising from 5,780 tonnes in 2024 to 6,300 in 2025 (up 520, about 9 percent). Chile rose from 1,200 to 1,400 (up 200, about 17 percent), India from 700 to 800 (up 100, about 14 percent), Peru by 90, the United States by 50, Canada by 34, Argentina by 26, and Bolivia by 10. Poland (1,300), in the ranking of 2025, and China (3,400) held closer to their levels once the 2024 figures from the earlier series were replaced.
The largest decline came from Kazakhstan, falling from 850 to 630 tonnes (down 220, about 26 percent). Russia fell from 1,280 to 1,200 (down 80, about 6 percent), Australia by 50, Sweden by 32, China by 30, and Poland by 20.
The World total rose from 25,300 to 26,000 tonnes (up 700, about 2.8 percent).
Where the earlier series provided a 2024 value, the revisions are visible: Mexico was revised down from 6,300 to 5,780 tonnes, China up from 3,300 to 3,430, Peru up from 3,100 to 3,510, Bolivia up from 1,300 to 1,490, and the United States down from 1,100 to 1,050.

Methodology
The earlier figures come from Our World in Data, which compiles national silver production figures from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with major processing by Our World in Data; USGS data is prioritized, with BGS data used to supplement it. The earlier series covers 2019-2024. The 2024 and 2025 figures are estimates from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 where available; countries not reported individually keep their latest available values from the earlier series, mostly from 2023. Values refer to mine production of silver content, in tonnes, and 2025 figures are preliminary estimates from the source. The sum of individually reported country estimates does not equal the reported World total because the source applies rounding and other adjustments at the country and World levels. In the table, a zero reflects no production, while an empty cell means that no value was reported.
