The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for the earlier years (2020-2024), built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table covers 6 countries included in the underlying data during the period. USGS reports 2025 estimates for 5 countries, which produced a combined 450,700 tonnes in 2025, slightly above the reported World total of 450,000 tonnes in the source. The United States keeps its earlier zeros through 2022, as the source lists it without a value.
Largest Strontium-Producing Countries in 2025
Iran produced the most strontium in 2025 with 250,000 tonnes. Spain ranked second with 100,000, followed by China (80,000), Mexico (20,000), and Argentina (700).

Iran alone accounted for about 56 percent of the World total in 2025, and Iran and Spain together for about 78 percent; the top three countries accounted for about 96 percent. Iran's output was about 2.5 times that of Spain. Only three countries produced more than 50,000 tonnes in 2025.

Largest Changes in Strontium Production, 2024-2025
Iran recorded the largest increase, rising from 200,000 tonnes in 2024 to 250,000 in 2025 (up 50,000, about 25 percent). Mexico rose from 19,000 to 20,000 (up 1,000, about 5 percent). Spain (100,000), China (80,000), and Argentina (700) held their levels.
The World total rose from 400,000 to 450,000 tonnes (up 50,000, about 12.5 percent), and Iran's increase alone accounts for the entire World increase. No listed country recorded a decline.
The 2024 figures in this release are revised from earlier values, most notably Spain (revised down from 200,000 to 100,000 tonnes) and Mexico (down from 25,000 to 19,000).

The earlier figures come from Our World in Data, which compiles national strontium production figures from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, the USGS Historical Statistics for Mineral and Material Commodities, and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with major processing by Our World in Data; USGS data is prioritized, with BGS data used to supplement it. The earlier series covers 2020-2024. The 2024 and 2025 figures are estimates from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 where available; the United States is listed without a value and keeps its earlier zeros through 2022. Values refer to mine production of celestite, in terms of strontium content, in tonnes, and 2025 figures are preliminary estimates from the source. The sum of individually reported country estimates does not equal the reported World total because the source applies rounding and other adjustments at the country and World levels. In the table, a zero reflects no production, while an empty cell means that no value was reported.
