Rutile production by country shows how much rutile is mined in each country, measured in tonnes. The figures refer to mine production of rutile (a titanium mineral concentrate); ilmenite is reported separately by the source and is not included here. The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for the earlier years (2020-2024), built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table covers 13 countries included in the underlying data during the period. USGS reports 2025 estimates for 6 countries, which produced a combined 443,000 tonnes in 2025; together with the "Other countries" value of 9,000 tonnes, this totals 452,000 tonnes including "Other countries". The USGS World total covers ilmenite and rutile combined, so it is not used as a standalone rutile total here. Kenya is listed by the source without a 2025 value (41,000 tonnes in 2024), and the United States is listed as suppressed (s); Senegal (9,000, 2022), Madagascar (6,000, 2023), Malaysia (3,708, 2022), Sri Lanka (2,150, 2022), and Tanzania (0) retain older values.
Largest Titanium Rutile-Producing Countries in 2025

Largest Changes in Rutile Production, 2024-2025
Sierra Leone recorded the largest increase, rising from 80,000 tonnes in 2024 to 110,000 in 2025 (up 30,000, about 38 percent). India rose from 12,000 to 13,000, and Ukraine and Mozambique each rose by 1,000 tonnes. Australia (200,000) held its level.
South Africa recorded the largest decline, falling from 102,000 to 100,000 tonnes (down 2,000, about 2 percent). Kenya (41,000 in 2024) has no 2025 value, so it leaves the reported list.

The source reports production in thousand-ton units for 2024-2025; values here are expressed in tonnes.
