Triticale Imports by Country
Spain bought 388,577 tonnes of triticale abroad in 2020 and 191,139 tonnes in 2024, surrendering nearly half its volume while keeping second place. The figures below aggregate FAO Detailed Trade Matrix bilateral records for item Triticale, 2020-2024, pairing import quantity in tonnes with import value in current US dollars. The table lists 73 countries; 49 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 listed quantity total is 862,718 tonnes. The 2024 country list for triticale imports runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
Germany was the largest triticale importer in the 2024 listed data with 395,384 tonnes, followed by Spain with 191,139 tonnes and the Netherlands with 158,063 tonnes. Denmark ranked fourth with 25,246 tonnes, ahead of Italy (24,632 tonnes), Portugal (12,942 tonnes), Poland (8,690 tonnes) and Austria (7,860 tonnes). Germany also led on import value at 85,788,000 US dollars, followed by Spain (39,050,000) and the Netherlands (35,102,000). Spain's 2020-2024 retreat of 197,438 tonnes (down 50.8 percent) is the largest absolute decline in the table, yet Spain kept second place throughout, because the Netherlands, the only reporter close behind, added just 41,596 tonnes over the same span. A halved buyer can hold rank when nobody behind grows into the gap. Germany holds 45.8 percent of the listed 2024 total, about 2.07 times Spain; the top three together hold 86.3 percent, the top five 92.1 percent and the top ten 97.1 percent. Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy and Portugal keep this trade densely European; Poland (8,690 tonnes) and Austria (7,860 tonnes) follow, with the United States (4,551 tonnes) the largest buyer outside Europe. Between 2023 and 2024, the common reporter universe (45 countries with data in both years) rose from 783,713 tonnes to 862,671 tonnes, a change of 78,958 tonnes (10.1 percent). The totals listed for each year were 783,758 tonnes (54 reporters) and 862,718 tonnes (49 reporters). Germany added 55,087 tonnes (up 16.2 percent) and Portugal 5,159 tonnes (up 66.3 percent), while Denmark added 19,851 tonnes (from 5,395 to 25,246 tonnes) and Lithuania 5,341 tonnes (from 1,785 to 7,126 tonnes) from small bases. Georgia fell from 5,329 tonnes to 0.1 tonnes (down 100.0 percent), a reported near-zero flow rather than a reporting gap, while Italy fell 3,736 tonnes (down 13.2 percent). Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (45 countries with data in both years) fell from 1,119,072 tonnes to 862,647 tonnes, a change of -256,425 tonnes (-22.9 percent). The totals listed for each year were 1,121,184 tonnes (55 reporters) and 862,718 tonnes (49 reporters). The Netherlands added 41,596 tonnes (up 35.7 percent) and Denmark 14,231 tonnes (up 129.2 percent). France fell 23,623 tonnes (down 93.8 percent) and Latvia 19,221 tonnes (down 73.9 percent). The ranking follows 2024 listed quantities in tonnes, while import values are shown in full current US dollars with no inflation adjustment. Yearly reporter totals sum FAO Detailed Trade Matrix bilateral flows for item Triticale, import quantity and import value, 2020-2024. Displayed quantities keep two decimals below 1,000 tonnes and whole tonnes above. In the triticale imports data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. The triticale imports change uses overlapping reporters only; countries entering or leaving the listed set are shown separately. Partner-derived gap filling and food-aid additions can apply, and unreconciled bilateral pairs mean an import record and its mirror export may disagree.Triticale Imports by Country in 2024

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Georgia nearly disappear from the ranking?
Georgia reported 5,329 tonnes for 2023 and 0.1 tonnes for 2024 (down 100.0 percent). Both endpoint values are reported in the triticale series, indicating near-zero trade rather than a missing cell.
How should Denmark's 368.0 percent rise be read?
Denmark grew from 5,395 tonnes in 2023 to 25,246 tonnes in 2024, an increase of 19,851 tonnes. For triticale, the percentage is read alongside the absolute gain because the starting quantity is small.
Why did France fall 93.8 percent between 2020 and 2024?
France fell from 25,179 tonnes in 2020 to 1,556 tonnes in 2024, a loss of 23,623 tonnes. Both endpoint quantities are reported for this triticale comparison, so the change is included; the dataset does not assign a cause.
What does this triticale imports series not show?
This dataset does not cover production, stocks, domestic use, or processing; it records reporter-level import quantities and values, so its comparisons stay on the import side.
