Antimony Reserves by Country
China reported 480,000 metric tons of antimony reserves for four straight years, cut the figure to 350,000 in 2022, then climbed to 830,000 by 2025. The figures come from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2019-2026 and represent quantities considered economically recoverable under applicable conditions. Reserves are a stock measure, not the amount mined during a single year. The table covers 13 countries, all with reported 2025 values, and listed reserves totalled 2,395,000 metric tons in 2025.
China's 830,000 metric tons sit 480,000 above second-ranked Russia (350,000) — a gap larger than the entire reserves of any other country in the table. Russia and Bolivia (310,000) follow at a distance, with Kyrgyzstan (260,000) fourth. The world total is given as more than 2,000,000 metric tons. Ten of thirteen values were unchanged from 2024; two increased and one fell. China held its reported figure at 480,000 metric tons from 2018 through 2021, dropped it to 350,000 in 2022, then raised it to 640,000 in 2023, 670,000 in 2024 and finally 830,000 in 2025. The three-year climb from the 2022 low added 480,000 metric tons, equal to about 20% of the 2025 listed total. The latest step, from 670,000 to 830,000 (+23.9%), was the largest absolute increase anywhere in the table in 2025. Russia, Bolivia, Mexico and the United States kept the same reported figures throughout the 2018–2025 series; Kyrgyzstan and Canada have not moved since 2020, and Pakistan since 2019. Seven of the thirteen countries report the same figure as five years earlier. That stillness makes China's movement decisive: its 480,000-metric-ton increase from 2022 to 2025 accounted for most of the net rise in the listed total over the same period. Ten of the thirteen values were unchanged in 2025. The exceptions pulled three ways: China added 160,000 metric tons and Tajikistan 10,000 (+20.0%), while Australia fell from 140,000 to 110,000 (-21.4%). Australia's drop erased its recovery to 140,000 and returned it below its 2022 figure of 120,000. Figures come from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2019-2026, with 2025 values estimated. Units are metric tons, exactly as reported. Empty means the source reported no value; 0 means the source reports zero. The source’s world total, where published, may be rounded, approximate, a lower bound, or a textual estimate, so shares are computed against the sum of the listed countries. Reserves and production are different measures and should not be combined without equalizing units.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are antimony reserves?
Antimony reserves are estimated quantities of antimony that can be economically extracted under applicable conditions, in metric tons. Production measures the amount mined in a year.
Which countries hold the most antimony reserves?
China (830,000 metric tons), Russia (350,000) and Bolivia (310,000) reported the largest 2025 values.
How did antimony reserves change in 2025?
China's estimate increased by 160,000 metric tons, while Tajikistan added 10,000 and Australia declined by 30,000.
Why is China far ahead of Russia in antimony reserves?
China reports 830,000 metric tons against Russia's 350,000 — about 34.7% of the listed total compared with 14.6%.
