Methodology
Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products stocks quantity (Element 5111) for item Camels, 2020-2024. For camels stocks, quantities are shown as whole head. The 2024 camels stocks ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the camels stocks data, zero means a reported nil or negligible stock; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For camels stocks changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Stocks refer to the number of camels held at the reported time, rather than the number produced during the year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did the countries in the dataset change between 2020 and 2024?
The same 46 countries reported in 2020, 2023 and 2024, so both change universes equal the reporter set and the listed totals move only on reported quantities. No country exited and no new reporter joined in either window.
How much of the 2020-2024 gain runs through Chad?
Chad added 2,557,868 head (up 29.0 percent) against a common-universe gain of 4,759,723 head, accounting for 53.7 percent of the increase. Saudi Arabia added a further 1,036,191 head (up 74.0 percent).
How did Egypt move since 2020?
Egypt rose from 79,000 head in 2020 to 247,667 head in 2024, a change of 168,667 head (up 213.5 percent). Egypt reports in both years, so the rise sits inside the change universe.
