Egg Albumin Consumption by Country

In 2023, Italy recorded the largest reported food supply of egg albumin, at 9,055 tonnes, representing about 67.3 percent of the total across countries with reported values. The Czech Republic ranked second at approximately 891 tonnes, followed by Taiwan at 735 tonnes. Italy also ranked first per person, at 0.42 grams per day. FAOSTAT food supply figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually eat.

Egg Albumin Consumption

Vietnam placed fourth at 679 tonnes, with Malaysia fifth at 419 and the Philippines sixth at 300. Israel, Türkiye, South Africa and Ukraine closed the top ten between 117 and 278 tonnes. The top three held 79.3 percent of the annual listed food supply total, and the top five 87.5 percent. Italy had the highest listed food supply, while Italy also had the highest per-capita food supply.

  • Italian egg albumin rises: up 1,389 tonnes, or 18.1 percent, the biggest latest-year gain.
  • Philippine egg albumin halves: down 476 tonnes, or 61.3 percent, slipping to sixth.
  • Vietnamese egg albumin thins: down 322 tonnes, or 32.2 percent, holding fourth.
  • Laotian egg albumin shrinks: down 287 tonnes, or 74.4 percent, to a minor level.

Italy Widens Its Egg Albumin Lead

Italy added 1,389 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, up 18.1 percent. The Philippines lost 476 tonnes, down 61.3 percent. Vietnam shed 322 tonnes, down 32.2 percent. Laos gave up 287 tonnes, down 74.4 percent. Taiwan fell 278 tonnes, down 27.5 percent. Türkiye dropped 132 tonnes, down 36.1 percent. Malaysia lost 114 tonnes, down 21.5 percent. Congo went from 94 tonnes to a reported zero. The 67 countries present in both years eased from 13,728 tonnes to 13,332 tonnes, down 396 tonnes, or 2.9 percent, with five arrivals carrying 130 tonnes.

Egg Albumin Supply Fell Across the Five-Year Comparison

Between 2019 and 2023, the 57 countries present in both years fell from 6,085 tonnes to 4,266 tonnes, down 1,819 tonnes, or 29.9 percent. Malaysia lost 864 tonnes, down 67.3 percent. Türkiye shed 340 tonnes, down 59.2 percent. The Philippines gave up 312 tonnes, down 51.0 percent. Taiwan fell 254 tonnes, down 25.7 percent. Czechia added 140 tonnes, up 18.7 percent. Vietnam dropped 81 tonnes, down 10.7 percent. Maldives shed 68 tonnes, down 93.5 percent. Six countries left with 2 tonnes, against 15 arrivals with 9,196 tonnes, including Italy at 9,055 tonnes.

Italy Leads Both Egg Albumin Rankings

Italy's 0.42 grams a day nearly doubled Czechia's 0.23 in second. Macau sat third at 0.16 grams, with Taiwan at 0.09 and Israel at 0.08. French Polynesia, Luxembourg, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Laos and Qatar followed below 0.08 grams. Italy therefore leads the table both by total food supply and by food supply per person.

What the Egg Albumin Data Covers

Egg albumin for human consumption is recorded in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country over 2019-2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only. Italy has no reported 2019 value, so the five-year comparison covers the other reporting countries. The tonnage figures show total reported supply; the per-person figures adjust that supply for population size.

Congo fell to a reported zero in 2023 from 94.46 tonnes in 2022, so that zero merits checking against the source. Maldives fell 93.5 percent across five years yet still reports.

Methodology

FAO Supply Utilization Accounts designate tonnage for human consumption as element 5141 and daily grams per person as element 665, shown for egg albumin across 2019-2023. Percentages rest on the earlier year, and no percentage is stated when the earlier-year value is zero. The dataset contains 83 countries after aggregates are removed, 72 with 2023 values. Only countries holding values at both endpoints enter comparisons. The 2023 listed total of 13,462 tonnes is the sum of every country with a 2023 value. A reported zero is kept, a blank is missing, and under-1,000 values keep two decimals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which country has the highest egg albumin supply per person?

Italy ranked first in 2023 at 0.42 grams per person per day, followed by the Czech Republic at 0.23 grams and Macau at 0.16 grams.

How dominant was Italy in the 2023 egg albumin ranking?

Italy recorded 9,055 tonnes, approximately 67.3 percent of the 13,462-tonne total reported for 2023, with the Czech Republic second at 891 tonnes in the same table that year.

Which countries ranked second and third by volume?

The Czech Republic ranked second by volume at approximately 891 tonnes in 2023, followed by Taiwan at about 735 tonnes in the same table that year.

Does egg albumin food supply represent actual consumption?

No. FAOSTAT measures food available for human consumption in the reference year, not the amount actually eaten by individuals in any listed country that year.

Why is Italy missing from the 2019 comparison?

Italy has no reported 2019 value in this dataset, so it cannot be included in a comparison requiring values for both 2019 and 2023. Its 2020 value is reported as 9,300 tonnes.
