Fluorspar production by country measures how much fluorspar each country mines, expressed in tonnes. The figures refer to mine production of fluorspar, in line with the underlying sources. The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for 2020-2023, built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table below lists 25 countries that record fluorspar production in the period. 2025 figures are available individually for 12 countries, which produced a combined 10,035,000 tonnes in 2025; together with the "Other countries" value of 200,000 tonnes, this totals 10,235,000 tonnes, above the reported World total of 10,000,000 tonnes in the source. Tajikistan has 2024-2025 data from the source without an earlier series, and most other countries retain their latest available Our World in Data figures, mostly from 2023.
Countries With the Largest Fluorspar Production in 2025
China produced the most fluorspar in 2025 with 6,000,000 tonnes. Mongolia and Mexico ranked second, each with 1,500,000, followed by South Africa (410,000), Vietnam (160,000), and Spain (140,000). Brazil (100,000), Iran (70,000), Thailand (55,000), Pakistan (50,000), Germany (35,000), and Tajikistan (15,000) complete the list.
Fluorspar Production by Country
China alone accounted for about 60 percent of the World total in 2025, and China and Mongolia together for about 75 percent; the top three countries accounted for about 90 percent. China's output was about four times that of either second-place producer. China, Mongolia, and Mexico were the only countries to reach at least 1 million tonnes in 2025.
Fluorspar Production Around the World
In Asia, China (6,000,000) leads by a wide margin, ahead of Mongolia (1,500,000) and Vietnam (160,000). Thailand (55,000), Pakistan (50,000), and Tajikistan (15,000) in Central Asia follow.
In the Middle East, Iran (70,000) is the largest producer. In Europe, Spain (140,000) leads, ahead of Germany (35,000); France (81,301, 2023), Russia (76,000, 2023), and Türkiye (32,407, 2023) follow with older figures.
In Africa, South Africa (410,000) is the largest producer, ahead of Morocco (77,000, 2023). In the Americas, Mexico (1,500,000) leads, ahead of Brazil (100,000). The United States is listed in the source with no available value.
Largest Changes in Fluorspar Production, 2024-2025
Mongolia recorded the largest increase, rising from 1,430,000 tonnes in 2024 to 1,500,000 in 2025 (up 70,000, about 4.9 percent). Iran rose from 53,000 to 70,000 (up 17,000, about 32 percent), Brazil from 85,000 to 100,000 (up 15,000, about 18 percent), Vietnam from 146,000 to 160,000, and Spain from 138,000 to 140,000.
South Africa recorded the largest decline, falling from 447,000 to 410,000 tonnes (down 37,000, about 8.3 percent). Thailand fell from 75,000 to 55,000 tonnes (down 20,000, about 27 percent), while Mexico fell from 1,510,000 to 1,500,000 and Pakistan from 60,000 to 50,000. China (6,000,000), Germany (35,000), and Tajikistan (15,000) held their levels.
The World total fell from 10,300,000 to 10,000,000 tonnes (down 300,000, about 2.9 percent), and the source’s "Other countries" value fell from 316,000 to 200,000 tonnes.
The 2024 figures in this release are revised from earlier values, most notably Germany (revised down from 100,000 to 35,000 tonnes), Iran (down from 120,000 to 53,000), Mexico (up from 1,200,000 to 1,510,000), Mongolia (up from 1,200,000 to 1,430,000), and South Africa (up from 380,000 to 447,000).

The 2020-2023 figures come from Our World in Data, which compiles national fluorspar production figures from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, the USGS Historical Statistics for Mineral and Material Commodities, and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with major processing by Our World in Data; USGS data is prioritized, with BGS data used to supplement it. The 2024 and 2025 figures are estimates from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 where available; countries not reported individually keep their latest Our World in Data figures, mostly from 2023. Tajikistan appears with 2024-2025 values only, as it is listed by the source without an earlier series in this dataset. Values refer to mine production of fluorspar, in tonnes, and 2025 figures are preliminary estimates from the source. The source reports production in thousand-ton units for 2024-2025; values here are expressed in tonnes. The sum of individually reported country estimates does not equal the reported World total; the source reports these figures separately and country-level estimates may not reconcile directly with the World total. In the table, a zero reflects no production, while an empty cell means that no value was reported.
