Fluorspar Reserves by Country
China has raised its reported fluorspar reserves four years running — the longest unbroken climb in this table. The figures come from eight USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries editions covering 2019 through 2026. The table covers 12 countries, with 9 reported 2025 values, and listed reserves totaled 297,700 thousand metric tons in 2025. USGS separately lists 32,000 thousand metric tons under Other countries without country attribution. The source gives a rounded world total of 330,000 thousand metric tons.
China (110,000 thousand metric tons) leads Mexico (68,000) by a margin of 42,000 — itself larger than every holder below fourth place. Mexico and South Africa have reported the same values throughout the eight-year series, leaving China as the only mover among the top three. China's four-year climb added 68,000 thousand metric tons — the same amount as Mexico's entire 2025 stock. China reported 42,000 thousand metric tons from 2018 through 2021, then 49,000, 67,000, 86,000 and 110,000 — gains in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 totaling 68,000. The 24,000 increase in 2025 (+27.9%) was the only movement anywhere that year, and China's figure has now grown to more than two-and-a-half times its 2021 level. Mexico's 68,000 and South Africa's 41,000 have not changed once in eight years. Mongolia settled at 34,000 from 2023 onward after five years at 22,000. That left three of the top four largely unchanged while China's reserves rose sharply. The United States (4,000 through 2022), the United Kingdom (4,000 in 2019) and Morocco (210 in 2021) have all stopped reporting. Vietnam shows the opposite arc, dipping to 3,400 in 2023 before jumping to 16,000 a year later, while Thailand reappeared at 3,600 in 2024 and Brazil debuted at 2,500 in 2025. Figures come from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2019-2026, with 2025 values estimated. Units are thousand metric tons, exactly as reported. Empty means the source reported no value; 0 means the source reports zero. The source’s world total, where published, may be rounded, approximate, a lower bound, or a textual estimate, so shares are computed against the sum of the listed countries. Reserves and production are different measures and should not be combined without equalizing units.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are fluorspar reserves?
Fluorspar reserves are estimated quantities of fluorspar that can be economically extracted under applicable conditions, in thousand metric tons. Production measures the amount mined in a year.
Which countries hold the most fluorspar reserves?
China (110,000 thousand metric tons), Mexico (68,000) and South Africa (41,000) reported the largest 2025 values.
What changed in China's fluorspar reserves?
China rose from 42,000 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 110,000 in 2025 through four consecutive annual gains.
Which major fluorspar reserve estimates stayed unchanged?
Mexico at 68,000 thousand metric tons and South Africa at 41,000 have reported the same reserve estimates throughout the 2018–2025 series.
