Gallium production by country measures how much gallium each country recovers, expressed in tonnes. The figures refer to primary gallium production (crude gallium recovered), in line with the underlying sources. The statistics combine an Our World in Data series for 2020-2023, built from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with 2024 and 2025 estimates taken directly from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. The table below lists 5 countries that record gallium production in the period. 2025 figures are available individually for 3 countries, which produced a combined 909 tonnes in 2025, above the World total of 900 tonnes reported in the source because of rounding at country and World levels. South Korea keeps its 2024 value (3 tonnes), and Ukraine keeps its 2022 value (2).

China produced the most gallium in 2025 with 900 tonnes. Russia ranked second with 6, followed by Japan (3).

China alone essentially matched the reported World total in 2025: its 900 tonnes plus Russia (6) and Japan (3) come to 909 tonnes against a World total of 900 tonnes. China's output was about 150 times that of Russia. Only China produced more than 100 tonnes in 2025.

Gallium Production Around the World

In Asia, China (900) leads, ahead of Japan (3); South Korea (3, 2024) follows with its last available value. In Europe, Russia (6) is the only producer with a 2025 figure; Ukraine (2, 2022) carries an older figure. The United States is listed in the source with no reported value.

Largest Changes in Gallium Production, 2024-2025

China recorded the only change, rising from 839 tonnes to 900 in 2025 (up 61, about 7.3 percent). Russia (6) and Japan (3) held their levels.

The World total rose from 848 to 900 tonnes (up 52, about 6.1 percent). The 2024 figure in this release is revised up from the earlier value of 750 tonnes for China.

Methodology

The 2020-2023 figures come from Our World in Data, which compiles national gallium production figures from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, the USGS Historical Statistics for Mineral and Material Commodities, and the BGS World Mineral Statistics, with major processing by Our World in Data; USGS data is prioritized, with BGS data used to supplement it. The 2024 and 2025 figures are estimates from the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 where available; South Korea and Ukraine keep their earlier Our World in Data values. Values refer to primary gallium recovered, in tonnes; the source reports 2024-2025 values in kilograms (converted to tonnes here). The sum of individually reported country estimates may differ from the reported World total because country-level estimates and the World total are subject to source-level rounding and adjustments. In the table, a zero reflects no production, while an empty cell means that no value was reported.
