The figures cover ghee from cow milk in FAO Supply Utilization Accounts for 2019-2023. Annual totals sum the reporting countries and areas for each year, excluding aggregate rows. Comparisons between years include only countries and areas with reported values at both endpoints. A reported zero is retained as zero, while a blank cell indicates missing data. The figures describe food available for human consumption and should not be interpreted as measurements of actual intake. FAO Supply Utilization Accounts provide food supply quantity in tonnes under element 5141 and food supply quantity in grams per person per day under element 665. This page covers ghee from cow milk from 2019 through 2023. The dataset includes 117 countries and areas after aggregate rows are excluded, of which 113 have reported values for 2023. Annual totals include countries and areas with reported values for the relevant year; year-to-year comparisons use only those with values in both years. Percentage changes use the earlier year's value as the base and are not calculated when that value is zero. Reported zeros are retained, while blank cells indicate missing data. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount actually eaten.

Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Which country had the largest food supply of ghee from cow milk in 2023?
India ranked first at 406,795 tonnes in 2023, accounting for about 59.9 percent of the listed total in the same listed table that year, and also held the largest share.
Which country ranked first per person?
Mongolia led per person in 2023, followed by the Seychelles at 2.08 grams per person per day in the same listed table that year, ahead of Nepal in third.
How much did the listed total change from 2022 to 2023?
Among the 112 countries with values in both years, the listed total increased by 88,713 tonnes, or about 15.0 percent, over the annual comparison period.
Why is a percentage change not shown when a country starts from zero?
A percentage change requires a non-zero starting value in the earlier year. When the earlier value is zero, the percentage change is undefined and no rate is shown.
Do these figures show how much ghee people actually ate?
No. They measure the reported food available for human consumption in the reference year, not the amount of ghee that individual people actually ate in each year.
Data Disclaimer: Projected data (future years) are estimates based on mathematical models. Actual values may differ. Learn about our methodology →
