China stayed the largest packed tea producer while adding 199,000 tonnes and the reporter base more than doubled since 2019. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Green tea (not fermented); black tea (fermented) and partly fermented tea; in immediate packings of a content not exceeding 3 kg, 2019-2023, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 131 countries; 128 reported a 2023 quantity, and the 2023 annual listed total is 7,298,500 tonnes. The 2023 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 2.53 times as much as India: 3,541,100 tonnes against 1,399,840, while Kenya ranks third with 570,449 tonnes, 829,391 tonnes behind India. The top two hold 67.7 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 570,449 and 282,150 tonnes respectively.

From 2022 to 2023 the common reporter universe (127 countries with data in both years) moved from 7,056,063 tonnes to 7,298,500 tonnes, a change of 242,437 tonnes (3.4 percent). The totals listed for each year were 7,058,216 tonnes (130 reporters) and 7,298,500 tonnes (128 reporters); 3 countries reporting in 2022 (largest: the Netherlands, 2,047 tonnes) did not report in 2023, while 1 new reporter added 0.12 tonnes (Haiti). China added 199,000 tonnes (up 6.0 percent) and Kenya 35,449 tonnes (up 6.6 percent), while India added 27,005 tonnes (up 2.0 percent).

Between 2019 and 2023, the common reporter universe (52 countries with data in both years) rose from 6,181,665 tonnes to 7,041,892 tonnes, a change of 860,227 tonnes (13.9 percent). The totals listed for each year were 6,181,665 tonnes (52 reporters) and 7,298,500 tonnes (128 reporters); no reporter present in 2019 is absent in 2023, while 76 new reporters joined (largest: Pakistan, 56,624 tonnes). China added 763,900 tonnes (up 27.5 percent) and Kenya 111,599 tonnes (up 24.3 percent), while Vietnam added 45,550 tonnes (up 19.3 percent).

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Green tea (not fermented); black tea (fermented) and partly fermented tea; in immediate packings of a content not exceeding 3 kg, 2019-2023. For packed tea production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 packed tea production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the packed tea production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For packed tea production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
