China reported 3,630,655 tonnes of food supply for cider and other fermented beverages in 2023, accounting for 43.4 percent of the 8,373,441-tonne total listed across reporting countries. Cameroon ranked second at 749,630 tonnes, followed by France at 741,827 tonnes. Rwanda had the highest per-person figure, at 108.21 grams per person per day. China's reported supply increased by 341,511 tonnes from 2022, while South Korea's fell by 75,120 tonnes. These figures represent food available for human consumption, not measured actual intake.

Which country has the largest food supply of cider and other fermented beverages? China ranked first in 2023, with 3,630,655 tonnes, representing 43.4 percent of the 8,373,441 tonnes listed across reporting countries. China Accounts for 43.4% of Listed Supply

China led, 4.84 times Cameroon by reported volume. France sat third at 741,827 tonnes, ahead of Rwanda at 551,170 and Angola at 529,364. The top three held 61.2 percent of the 8,373,441-tonne total, and the top five 74.1 percent. Uganda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Kingdom and South Korea closed the top ten between 139,328 and 462,388 tonnes. Of 171 countries in the file, 169 carried a 2023 value.

China Drives the Latest Annual Increase

Across the 169 countries with reported values in both 2022 and 2023, supply grew 3.2 percent, from 8,112,214 tonnes, a gain of 261,227. China added 341,511 tonnes, up 10.4 percent, exceeding the net rise alone. France added 86,472 tonnes, up 13.2 percent. South Korea shed 75,120 tonnes, down 35.0 percent. The United States fell to 10,783 tonnes from 70,984, down 84.8 percent. Belarus shed 46,614 tonnes, down 68.8 percent. Angola added 33,401 tonnes. Cameroon shed 32,718 tonnes, while Belgium fell to 838 from 32,175, down 97.4 percent.

China Leads the Five-Year Net Increase

Among the 164 countries with reported values in both 2019 and 2023, supply grew 5.2 percent, from 7,961,730 tonnes, a gain of 411,651. China added 556,879 tonnes, up 18.1 percent, exceeding the net rise alone. Poland fell to 1,000 tonnes from 229,922, down 99.6 percent. Uganda shed 207,598 tonnes, down 31.0 percent. Cameroon shed 178,027 tonnes, down 19.2 percent. Angola added 104,334 tonnes, up 24.5 percent. Rwanda added 98,100 tonnes and France 90,500 tonnes. The Democratic Republic of the Congo added 70,068 tonnes, up 35.6 percent. Two countries left over the period, against five arrivals.

Rwanda Ranks First per Person

Rwanda ranked fourth by volume at 551,170 tonnes and first per person. Angola, fifth at 529,364 tonnes, added 33,401 in the latest year. Uganda, sixth at 462,388 tonnes, shed 207,598 over five years, down 31.0 percent. Tanzania, seventh at 415,328 tonnes, sits outside the per-person top ten. The Democratic Republic of the Congo ranked eighth at 266,615 tonnes, followed by the United Kingdom at 162,335 and South Korea at 139,328.

Rwanda Leads Food Supply per Person

Rwanda's 108.21 grams a day topped the per-person table, ahead of Cameroon at 72.39 and Angola at 39.46. France followed at 30.59 grams and Botswana at 29.09. Uganda sat at 26.04 grams after holding sixth by volume. China, the volume leader, sat at 6.99 grams per person.
