China's 18.4 million tonnes represents 78% of global "other green beans" production, with steady output around 18-18.5 million tonnes annually. Production concentrates in Shandong, Hebei, and southern provinces growing diverse Asian bean varieties. China cultivates yard-long beans (asparagus beans—up to 3 feet long!), winged beans (4-angled pods), and regional varieties beyond common string beans.
