Key Takeaway

Türkiye had the largest supply of prepared nuts in 2023 at 152,748 tonnes, just 2,125 tonnes ahead of China at 150,623 tonnes. South Korea ranked third at 65,426 tonnes, and the three accounted for 41.5 percent of the 888,109-tonne total. Maldives led per person at 13.79 grams a day, while China gained and South Korea declined. All figures measure food available for human consumption, not actual intake.

Germany followed the top three with 46,494 tonnes, ahead of Canada at 36,361, the United Kingdom at 32,751, Vietnam at 29,132 and France at 26,950. The first five suppliers accounted for 50.9 percent of the annual listed supply total. Away from sheer size, Estonia reached 3.75 grams a day, South Korea 3.46 and Lebanon 2.87.

Changes Behind the 2023 Ranking

• China’s latest gain of 32,018 tonnes almost matched South Korea’s 31,194-tonne loss.
• Sri Lanka reported zero from 2020 after 11,819 tonnes in 2019, while Cuba left the table after 81.87 tonnes.
• Five small countries entered with 7,183 tonnes, led by Myanmar at 4,334.

What the Latest Year Did to Prepared Nuts

Across the 167 countries with values in both 2022 and 2023, the common-country consumption total moved from 871,875 tonnes to 888,109. That was a gain of 16,234 tonnes, or 1.9 percent. China added 32,018 tonnes, up 27.0 percent, while South Korea lost 31,194 tonnes, down 32.3 percent. Türkiye added 19,570 tonnes and Germany lost 10,606. No country entered or left that one-year comparison.

How Prepared Nuts Changed Over Five Years

Among the 162 countries reporting in both 2019 and 2023, the total moved from 661,319 tonnes to 880,926, a gain of 219,607 tonnes or 33.2 percent. China contributed 71,961 tonnes, or 32.8 percent of the net change, and Türkiye added 69,469 tonnes. South Korea’s 25,669-tonne retreat offset 11.7 percent, while Vietnam added 20,511 tonnes, or 9.3 percent of the net change. Cuba’s departure and five arrivals shifted only a small fringe: Cuba left after 81.87 tonnes, and the entrants added 7,183 tonnes, led by Myanmar at 4,334.

Prepared Nuts Beyond the Biggest Totals

Maldives needed only 2,647 tonnes for 13.79 grams a day, ahead of Türkiye at 4.8. South Korea paired a top-three volume with 3.46 grams a day, so mass and intensity do not move together here. Maldives therefore reads as intensity rather than scale beside Türkiye and China. Belgium reached 2.84 grams, Kazakhstan 2.7 and Kyrgyzstan 2.67.

Methodology

Tonne figures are FAO food supply quantity for 2019-2023, with element 5141 marking the country-total series and element 665 marking grams per person per day. Rates divide by the earlier year; zero base yields no percentage. Only countries with values in both compared years enter those changes. Reported zero and blank are never equated. The table covers 168 countries and omits World, regions and aggregates; among them, 167 hold a 2023 value. Figures describe food available for human consumption.
