Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Rapeseed or canola oil; crude, 2019-2023. For crude rapeseed or canola oil production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 crude rapeseed or canola oil production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the crude rapeseed or canola oil production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For crude rapeseed or canola oil production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

How close are Canada and China?

Canada reported 4,422,368 tonnes and China 4,326,300 tonnes in 2023, a gap of 96,068 tonnes. The pair runs nearly level at the top while Germany trails China by 144,711 tonnes.

How did India more than double since 2019?

India rose from 1,797,000 tonnes in 2019 to 4,113,000 tonnes in 2023, a change of 2,316,000 tonnes (up 128.9 percent). India reports in both years, so the doubling sits inside the change universe and accounts for 31.5 percent of the 7,346,509-tonne net gain.

How did Ukraine move in 2023?

Ukraine rose from 79,700 tonnes in 2022 to 387,200 tonnes in 2023, a change of 307,500 tonnes (up 385.8 percent). Ukraine reports in both years, so the rise sits inside the change universe on a 79,700-tonne base.
