Safflower-Seed Oil, Crude Consumption by Country
Mexico reported 24,778 tonnes of crude safflower-seed oil food supply in 2023, just 161 ahead of India at 24,617. Uzbekistan came third at 12,931 tonnes. Per person, Uzbekistan led the table. India added 8,737 tonnes in the latest year and Uzbekistan tripled, adding 8,647. All figures describe food available for human consumption, not actual intake.
In 2023, Mexico had the largest listed food supply of crude safflower-seed oil at 24,778 tonnes, narrowly ahead of India at 24,617 tonnes. Uzbekistan ranked third by volume at 12,931 tonnes and first per person at 0.99 grams per person per day. Among the 33 countries with reported 2023 values, the listed total was 75,139 tonnes. These figures measure food available for human consumption, not actual intake.
Separated by One Hundred Sixty-One
Mexico led, 1.01 times India. Uzbekistan sat third at 12,931 tonnes, with Kazakhstan fourth at 4,335 and Kyrgyzstan fifth at 2,500. The top three held 82.9 percent of the 75,139-tonne total, and the top five 92.0 percent. Ethiopia took sixth at 2,014 tonnes, ahead of Argentina at 1,196. Of 40 countries in the file, 33 carried a 2023 value.
Across the 29 countries in both 2022 and 2023, supply grew 31.4 percent, from 56,937 tonnes, a gain of 17,879. India added 8,737 tonnes, up 55.0 percent, and Uzbekistan 8,647, tripling from 4,284. Kazakhstan added 2,831 tonnes, nearly tripling from 1,504. Greece added 885 tonnes from 26, a 3,427.4 percent rise from a very small base. France shed 1,448 tonnes, down 94.8 percent, and Spain 894. Mexico eased 154 tonnes. Four countries joined, adding 323 tonnes. Among the 22 countries in both 2019 and 2023, supply grew 67.8 percent, from 44,564 tonnes, a gain of 30,216. Mexico added 17,232 tonnes, up 228.4 percent from 7,546, the largest long gain. India added 16,447 tonnes, tripling from 8,170. Uzbekistan added 4,679 tonnes. Argentina moved the other way, shedding 3,711 tonnes, down 75.6 percent, and Kyrgyzstan 2,615. Spain shed 852 tonnes and Kazakhstan 546. Eleven countries joined over the period, adding 359 tonnes, against four departures. Kazakhstan nearly tripled in the latest year, adding 2,831 tonnes from 1,504, yet sits 546 tonnes below its 2019 level of 4,881. Per person, it sat third at 0.58 grams. Kyrgyzstan moved the other way in both windows, shedding 633 tonnes lately and 2,615 over five, down 51.1 percent to 2,500. The two neighbours show how one good year need not repair a longer slide. Greece added 885 tonnes from 26, a 3,427.4 percent rise from a very small base. Its 911 tonnes in 2023 stayed below a 2019 reading of 1,098 despite the rate. Per person, Greece sat at 0.24 grams. Spain, ninth at 763 tonnes, shed 894 in the latest year and 852 over five. Uzbekistan's 0.99 grams a day topped the per-person table, just ahead of Kyrgyzstan at 0.97. Kazakhstan followed at 0.58 grams and Mexico at 0.52, so three Central Asian countries filled the top three per-person places. India, second by volume, sat at 0.05 grams per person. Greece sat at 0.24 grams after its 885-tonne jump. This page follows the SUA item labelled Safflower-seed oil, crude and counts only its rows; World, regional and aggregate rows are not in the table. The annual listed supply total sums the countries with a 2023 value. The figures represent food available for human consumption in the reference year, not the amount actually consumed by people. For safflower-seed oil, crude, tonnage follows element 5141 and daily grams follow element 665 across 2019 to 2023. A change is measured from the earlier year; none is stated from a zero base. Only countries present in both compared years enter a change. A reported zero is not a blank, and blanks never stand in for zeros. The file holds 40 countries after removing World, regional and aggregate rows; 33 carry 2023 values. The numbers describe food available for human consumption. Methodology
Frequently Asked Questions
Which country had the largest crude safflower-seed oil supply?
Mexico, with 24,778 tonnes in 2023, just 161 ahead of India at 24,617, or 1.01 times second place among the 33 countries with a reported 2023 value, with Uzbekistan third.
Who charged in the latest year?
India added 8,737 tonnes for 55.0 percent growth and Uzbekistan 8,647, tripling from 4,284, together covering nearly all of the 17,879-tonne net gain, with Kazakhstan adding 2,831 behind them.
How did Mexico lead over five years?
Mexico added 17,232 tonnes, up 228.4 percent from 7,546, ahead of India's 16,447-tonne rise, together driving most of the 30,216-tonne long gain, with Uzbekistan adding 4,679 tonnes.
Who led per person?
Uzbekistan, at 0.99 grams per person per day in 2023, just ahead of Kyrgyzstan at 0.97, while second-placed India sat at only 0.05 grams overall.
Does this supply equal food eaten?
No. The figures measure food available for human consumption in the reference year, not actual intake, so they describe supply rather than the amounts people actually ate.
