Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Coconut oil, 2019-2023. For coconut oil production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 coconut oil production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the coconut oil production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For coconut oil production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Sri Lanka fall by nearly half in 2023?

Sri Lanka fell from 84,015 tonnes in 2022 to 43,475 tonnes in 2023, a change of -40,540 tonnes (down 48.3 percent). Sri Lanka reports in both years, so the fall sits inside the change universe.

How did Indonesia fall by more than a quarter since 2019?

Indonesia fell from 895,000 tonnes in 2019 to 646,000 tonnes in 2023, a change of -249,000 tonnes (down 27.8 percent). Indonesia reports in both years, so the fall sits inside the change universe.

How did Vanuatu move in 2023?

Vanuatu added 3,284 tonnes, from 1,358 tonnes in 2022 to 4,642 tonnes in 2023. The 2022 base is small next to the table's scale, so no percent is attached; Vanuatu reports in both years, so the climb sits inside the change universe.
