Cranberries Consumption by Country
Cranberries fell in Canada, steady in America: the United States kept 395,789 tonnes, 62.6 percent of the listed consumption total. Canada dropped to 76,344 tonnes and the United Kingdom at 43,190, while Canada led per person at 5.32. The 2023 figures total 632,023 tonnes across 66 countries, 60 with values, covering food available for human consumption from FAO Supply Utilization Accounts for 2019-2023.
In 2023, the United States had the largest reported cranberry food supply at 395,789 tonnes, accounting for 62.6 percent of the 632,023-tonne listed total. Canada ranked second at 76,344 tonnes and the United Kingdom third at 43,190 tonnes. Canada had the highest per-person supply at 5.32 grams per person per day. The figures represent food available for human consumption in FAO Supply Utilization Accounts, not the amount people actually ate.
The Netherlands placed fourth at 30,499 tonnes, with Germany fifth at 19,902 and Spain sixth at 14,120. Türkiye, Russia, Switzerland and Norway completed the top ten between 3,721 and 11,077 tonnes. The top three seized 81.5 percent of the annual listed consumption total, and the top five 89.5 percent. The United States had the highest listed food supply at 395,789 tonnes, while Canada had the highest per-capita food supply at 5.32 grams per person. Canada lost 66,493 tonnes between 2022 and 2023, falling 46.6 percent to 76,344 tonnes. The Netherlands lost 20,113 tonnes, down 39.7 percent. Spain shed 7,234 tonnes, down 33.9 percent. The United Kingdom fell 4,397 tonnes, down 9.2 percent. Türkiye lost 1,534 tonnes, down 12.2 percent, and Lithuania 1,356 tonnes, down 29.1 percent. The United States added 6,968 tonnes, up 1.8 percent. Germany added 3,403 tonnes, up 20.6 percent. The 56 countries present in both years dropped from 721,160 tonnes to 631,564 tonnes, down 89,596 tonnes, or 12.4 percent, with four arrivals carrying 460 tonnes. Between 2019 and 2023, the 52 countries present in both years rose from 597,683 tonnes to 631,481 tonnes, up 33,798 tonnes, or 5.7 percent. The United States added 23,233 tonnes, up 6.2 percent. Germany added 17,048 tonnes from a small base. The United Kingdom added 9,760 tonnes, up 29.2 percent, and the Netherlands 9,325 tonnes, up 44.0 percent. Russia added 9,237 tonnes from a zero base. Switzerland added 2,208 tonnes, up 37.2 percent, and Lithuania 1,983 tonnes, up 150.6 percent. Canada lost 43,640 tonnes, down 36.4 percent. Five countries left with 9,794 tonnes, against eight arrivals with 542. Canada's 5.32 grams a day stayed first, just above the Netherlands at 4.62 and Lithuania at 3.17. The United States followed at 3.16 grams, with Switzerland at 2.51 and Norway at 1.85. The United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland and Azerbaijan sat below two grams. Canada lost nearly half its tonnage between 2022 and 2023 but remained first in per-person supply at 5.32 grams per person per day. Cranberries for human consumption are recorded in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country between 2019 and 2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only. The volume ranking is dominated by the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, while Canada leads the per-person ranking. Russia's 9,237 tonnes came from a zero base with no percentage stated, an arrival at eighth place. Germany's 597.3 percent five-year rate likewise starts small. FAO Supply Utilization Accounts mark tonnage for human consumption with element 5141 and daily grams per person with element 665, shown for cranberries over 2019-2023. Percentages divide by the earlier year, and nothing is stated from a zero base. Sixty-six countries form the universe without aggregates, 60 with 2023 values. Comparisons accept only countries valued at both endpoints. The 2023 listed total of 632,023 tonnes is the sum of the 60 countries with a 2023 value. A reported zero is kept, a blank is missing, and under-1,000 entries carry two decimals.
