Crude Oil Production by Country
Crude oil production by country measures crude oil including lease condensate produced for each country, in million barrels per day (Mb/d). This is oil at the wellhead, before refining — distinct from petroleum consumption, which is reported separately. The statistics are based on the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) International Energy Statistics. The table covers 101 countries, with 101 reported 2025 values, and includes data from 2020 to 2025. The world total stood at 84.3834 Mb/d in 2025, up from 81.9494 Mb/d in 2024.
The top three producers stand well clear of the rest. The United States (13.5861 Mb/d) led in 2025, followed by Russia (9.8851 Mb/d) and Saudi Arabia (9.5561 Mb/d). Canada (4.9639 Mb/d) and Iraq (4.3881 Mb/d) complete the top five. Empty means no reported value, not zero.
Crude Oil Production by Country
The United States accounted for about 16.1% of the world total in 2025, producing about 1.4 times as much as Russia. The top two together held about 27.8%, the top three about 39.1%, the top five just over half at about 50.2%, and the top ten about 72.1%.
Change from 2024 to 2025
Brazil recorded the largest reported increase, rising from 3.3565 to 3.7694 Mb/d (+0.4129 Mb/d, about 12.3%). The world total rose from 81.9494 to 84.3834 Mb/d (+2.4340 Mb/d, about 3.0%). The United States added 0.3515 Mb/d (+2.7%) and Saudi Arabia 0.3239 Mb/d (+3.5%), while Russia was essentially flat at -0.1%. The largest decline among reported pairs was Mexico, falling from 1.8418 to 1.7260 Mb/d (-0.1158 Mb/d, about 6.3%).
How production changed across major producers
Brazil grew the fastest among the top ten at +12.3%, nearly four times the world rate. Russia (-0.1%) and Iraq (-1.6%) were the only top-ten producers to decline, while the other eight all grew between 1% and 4% — except Brazil. Canada (+3.9%) and Iran (+2.7%) kept pace with the leaders without changing the order at the top.
2020 to 2025 in this series
Reported world values were 75.8165 Mb/d in 2020, 76.9904 Mb/d in 2021, 80.9643 Mb/d in 2022, 82.0904 Mb/d in 2023, 81.9494 Mb/d in 2024 and 84.3834 Mb/d in 2025. Production ended about 11.3% above the 2020 level, with 2025 the highest in the series. The figures show the change over time but do not explain its causes.
Crude oil in context
Production is far less concentrated than refining or consumption rankings elsewhere on this site: the top five hold just over half of world output, and nearly 28% sits outside the top ten. The United States produces 13.5861 Mb/d of crude while consuming far more petroleum than that, a gap the consumption pages show from the other side. The ranking reflects where oil leaves the ground, not where it is refined or burned.

Methodology
The statistics are based on the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) International Energy Statistics. Values represent annual crude oil production including lease condensate, in million barrels per day (Mb/d). Where no value is available, the cell is left empty. A value of 0 indicates that the source reports zero. The sum of the countries listed on this page may not equal the reported world total because the country-level data presented here do not necessarily represent the complete set of values used for the world total. This page covers crude oil production only and does not include natural gas liquids, refinery gain or petroleum consumption, which are reported separately in the source.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which countries produce the most crude oil?
The United States (13.5861 Mb/d), Russia (9.8851 Mb/d) and Saudi Arabia (9.5561 Mb/d) reported the largest 2025 values, followed by Canada (4.9639 Mb/d) and Iraq (4.3881 Mb/d).
Is world crude production still growing?
Reported world production rose from 75.8165 Mb/d in 2020 to 84.3834 Mb/d in 2025, about 11.3%, with 2025 the highest in the series. The page reports the movement; the source does not explain its causes.
What is lease condensate?
Condensate recovered with crude oil at the wellhead. The EIA includes it in crude oil production rather than in natural gas liquids.
How should empty cells be read?
Empty means no reported value in the source. It is different from 0, which means the source reports zero.
