Frequently Asked Questions
How much did China contribute to the increase since 2020?
China added 700,775 tonnes between 2020 and 2024, a 38.7 percent increase. That accounted for 75.7 percent of the 925,615-tonne increase across the common reporter universe.
Why is Nicaragua missing from the 2024 data?
Nicaragua reported 600.05 tonnes in 2020 and 676.1 tonnes in 2023, but no 2024 quantity is reported. A blank cell means no quantity was reported rather than zero, so Nicaragua is excluded from the change calculations.
Which country had the largest increase among the major producers in 2024?
The Philippines added 31,679 tonnes between 2023 and 2024, increasing from 251,150 to 282,829 tonnes, or 12.6 percent. Vietnam also increased by 27,175 tonnes over the same period.
