Mongolia stayed the fourth-largest edible horse and equine offals producer while losing 2,638 tonnes and China lost 7,015 tonnes since 2020. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Edible offals of horses and other equines; fresh; chilled or frozen, 2020-2024, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 52 countries; 50 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 91,371 tonnes. The 2024 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.
In 2024, China was the largest listed producer of edible offals of horses and other equines at 22,589 tonnes, followed by Kazakhstan with 17,725 tonnes and Mexico with 14,133 tonnes. Together, the top three countries accounted for 59.6 percent of the 91,371-tonne listed total. Among the 50 countries with production reported in both 2023 and 2024, total production fell by 3.6 percent.
China produced 1.27 times as much as Kazakhstan: 22,589 tonnes against 17,725, while Mexico ranks third with 14,133 tonnes, 3,592 tonnes behind Kazakhstan. The top two hold 44.1 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 14,133 and 8,782 tonnes respectively. China was the largest edible horse and equine offals producer in the 2024 listed data with 22,589 tonnes, followed by Kazakhstan with 17,725 tonnes and Mexico with 14,133 tonnes. Mongolia ranked fourth with 8,782 tonnes. China holds 24.7 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 59.6 percent of the 91,371-tonne listed total. From 2023 to 2024 the common reporter universe (50 countries with data in both years) moved from 94,812 tonnes to 91,371 tonnes, a change of -3,441 tonnes (-3.6 percent). The totals listed for each year were 95,236 tonnes (51 reporters) and 91,371 tonnes (50 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (424.58 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. Mongolia fell 2,638 tonnes (down 23.1 percent) and Kyrgyzstan 1,244 tonnes (down 35.2 percent), while Uruguay rose from 699.82 tonnes to 1,309 tonnes, a change of 608.88 tonnes. Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (50 countries with data in both years) fell from 103,857 tonnes to 91,371 tonnes, a change of -12,486 tonnes (-12.0 percent). The totals listed for each year were 104,258 tonnes (52 reporters) and 91,371 tonnes (50 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Nicaragua, 400.03 tonnes, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1.02 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. China fell 7,015 tonnes (down 23.7 percent) and Mongolia 6,421 tonnes (down 42.2 percent), while Kazakhstan added 2,920 tonnes (up 19.7 percent). Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Edible offals of horses and other equines; fresh; chilled or frozen, 2020-2024. For edible horse and equine offals production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 edible horse and equine offals production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the edible horse and equine offals production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For edible horse and equine offals production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sits behind Uruguay's move in 2024?
Uruguay rose from 699.82 tonnes in 2023 to 1,309 tonnes in 2024, a change of 608.88 tonnes. The 2023 base sits below 1,000 tonnes, so no percent is attached; Uruguay reports in both years, so the climb sits inside the change universe.
Where did Nicaragua go in 2024?
Nicaragua reported 400.03 tonnes in 2020 and 424.58 tonnes in 2023, then nothing in 2024. Blank cells mean not reported rather than zero, so Nicaragua sits outside both change universes while shaping the listed totals.
How did Kyrgyzstan move in 2024?
Kyrgyzstan fell from 3,531 tonnes in 2023 to 2,287 tonnes in 2024, a change of -1,244 tonnes (down 35.2 percent). Kyrgyzstan reports in both years, so the fall sits inside the change universe.
