Brazil stayed the fifth-largest eggs producer while adding 294,819 tonnes and Indonesia added 289,345 tonnes. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Eggs Primary, 2020-2024, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 176 countries; 172 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 95,642,534 tonnes. The 2024 country list for primary eggs production runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China produced 4.43 times as much as India: 35,880,000 tonnes against 8,101,885, while Indonesia ranks third with 6,848,664 tonnes, 1,253,221 tonnes behind India. The top two hold 46.0 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 6,848,664 and 6,469,047 tonnes respectively.

Eggs Primary Production by Country in 2024

China was the largest eggs producer in the 2024 listed data with 35,880,000 tonnes, followed by India with 8,101,885 tonnes and Indonesia with 6,848,664 tonnes. The United States ranked fourth with 6,469,047 tonnes.

China holds 37.5 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 53.1 percent of the 95,642,534-tonne listed total.

Brazil Adds 294,819 Tonnes as Eggs Primary Production Grows 1.9 Percent Among Common Reporters

From 2023 to 2024 the common reporter universe (172 countries with data in both years) moved from 93,892,152 tonnes to 95,642,534 tonnes, a change of 1,750,382 tonnes (1.9 percent). The totals listed for each year were 94,784,044 tonnes (175 reporters) and 95,642,534 tonnes (172 reporters); 3 countries reporting in 2023 (largest: Italy, 712,500 tonnes) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. Brazil added 294,819 tonnes (up 8.6 percent) and Indonesia 289,345 tonnes (up 4.4 percent), while China added 250,100 tonnes (up 0.7 percent).

India Adds 1,389,210 Tonnes as Eggs Primary Production Grows 7.0 Percent Among Common Reporters Since 2020

Between 2020 and 2024, the common reporter universe (172 countries with data in both years) rose from 89,368,428 tonnes to 95,642,534 tonnes, a change of 6,274,106 tonnes (7.0 percent). The totals listed for each year were 90,270,116 tonnes (176 reporters) and 95,642,534 tonnes (172 reporters); 4 reporters present in 2020 (largest: Italy, 705,000 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 1,389,210 tonnes (up 20.7 percent) and Indonesia 1,357,796 tonnes (up 24.7 percent), while China added 1,200,000 tonnes (up 3.5 percent).

For primary eggs production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 primary eggs production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the primary eggs production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For primary eggs production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
