Goat Fat; Unrendered Production by Country

India remained the second-largest unrendered goat fat producer, adding 5,353 tonnes from 2023, while Australia added 3,142 tonnes since 2020. The figures below reproduce FAO Crops and Livestock Products records for item Goat fat; unrendered, 2020-2024, reporting production quantity in tonnes. The table lists 148 countries; 146 reported a 2024 quantity, and the 2024 annual listed total is 310,712 tonnes. The 2024 country list runs from the largest listed quantity to the smallest.

China led the 2024 listed production of unrendered goat fat at 101,479 tonnes, followed by India at 68,911 tonnes and Pakistan at 36,594 tonnes. Together, the three largest producers accounted for 66.6 percent of the 310,712-tonne listed total. India recorded the largest increase among the leading producers from 2020 to 2024, adding 20,409 tonnes.

China produced 1.47 times as much as India: 101,479 tonnes against 68,911, while Pakistan ranks third at 36,594 tonnes, about 32,317 tonnes below India. The top two hold 54.8 percent of the listed total, with third and fourth at 36,594 and 17,914 tonnes respectively.

China was the largest unrendered goat fat producer in the 2024 listed data with 101,479 tonnes, followed by India with 68,911 tonnes and Pakistan with 36,594 tonnes. Bangladesh ranked fourth with 17,914 tonnes.

China holds 32.7 percent of the listed 2024 total. The top three together hold 66.6 percent of the 310,712-tonne listed total.

The common reporter universe (146 countries with data in both years) edged from 305,326 tonnes to 310,712 tonnes between 2023 and 2024, a change of 5,386 tonnes (1.8 percent). The totals listed for each year were 305,328 tonnes (147 reporters) and 310,712 tonnes (146 reporters); 1 country reporting in 2023 (1.19 tonnes, Nicaragua) did not report in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 5,353 tonnes (up 8.4 percent), while China fell 2,648 tonnes (down 2.5 percent) and Australia added 1,331 tonnes (up 43.4 percent).

India Adds 20,409 Tonnes as Goat Fat; Unrendered Production Grows 14.2 Percent Among Common Reporters Since 2020

From 2020 to 2024 the common reporter universe (146 countries with data in both years) moved from 272,131 tonnes to 310,712 tonnes, a change of 38,581 tonnes (14.2 percent). The totals listed for each year were 272,308 tonnes (148 reporters) and 310,712 tonnes (146 reporters); 2 reporters present in 2020 (Palestine, 175.07 tonnes, and Nicaragua, 1.17 tonnes) are absent in 2024, while no new reporters joined. India added 20,409 tonnes (up 42.1 percent), accounting for 52.9 percent of the increase, while China added 4,987 tonnes (up 5.2 percent) and Pakistan 3,724 tonnes (up 11.3 percent).

For unrendered goat fat production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2024 unrendered goat fat production ranking and shares use 2024 listed quantities. In the unrendered goat fat production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For unrendered goat fat production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.
