Juice of Fruits n.e.c. Consumption by Country

China ranked first in total supply of other fruit juices in 2023, with 276,027 tonnes, narrowly ahead of Iran at 265,913 tonnes. Switzerland led the per-person ranking at 30.69 grams per day. These FAO figures measure food available for human consumption, not the amount people actually drank.

The 2023 dataset covers 171 reporting countries, including 169 with reported values. The figures come from FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts and cover 2019 to 2023, allowing comparisons of both annual supply and changes over time.

Brazil placed fourth at 170,283 tonnes, with the United Kingdom fifth at 167,947 and the United States sixth at 150,461. France, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen closed the top ten between 117,124 and 143,448 tonnes. The top three held only 20.6 percent of the annual listed food supply total, and the top five 30.1 percent. China had the highest listed food supply, while Switzerland had the highest per-capita food supply.

• Chinese other juice climbs: up 124,575 tonnes, or 82.3 percent, seizing first place.
• Yemeni other juice rebounds: up 85,460 tonnes from 31,664, the biggest volume comeback.
• Iranian other juice grows: up 84,280 tonnes, or 46.4 percent, holding second.
• Cambodian other juice appears: up 34,483 tonnes from almost nothing, a new top-twenty name.

China Edges Iran in Total Fruit Juice Supply

China recorded the largest increase in fruit juice supply between 2022 and 2023, adding 124,575 tonnes to reach 276,027 tonnes. Iran followed with an increase of 84,280 tonnes, while Yemen added 85,460 tonnes. Saudi Arabia gained 50,292 tonnes, and Spain increased its reported supply from 23,755 to 69,518 tonnes.

Several of the sharpest percentage increases came from relatively small starting values. Cambodia rose from 1,085 to 35,568 tonnes, while Germany increased from 980.01 to 35,130 tonnes. These changes are substantial in the reported data, but the size of the percentage increase depends heavily on the baseline.

The 169 countries with values in both years rose from 3,017,855 tonnes in 2022 to 3,553,843 tonnes, a gain of 535,988 tonnes, or 17.8 percent, with one departure holding 4,798 tonnes and no arrivals.

How Fruit Juice Supply Changed from 2019 to 2023

From 2019 to 2023, China added 186,399 tonnes of reported fruit juice supply, the largest increase among the examples listed here. Brazil rose from 6,235 to 170,283 tonnes, while the United States increased from 18,287 to 150,461 tonnes.

The trend was not universal. The United Kingdom's reported supply fell by 147,066 tonnes, from 315,013 to 167,947 tonnes. France declined by 81,753 tonnes, and Oman fell from 100,000 to 47,466 tonnes. These differences describe reported food supply, not changes in actual consumption or fruit production.

The 158 countries with values in both years grew from 3,181,838 tonnes in 2019 to 3,416,061 tonnes in 2023, a gain of 234,223 tonnes, or 7.4 percent, with one departure holding 2,693 tonnes and 11 arrivals adding 137,782 tonnes.

Switzerland Leads Daily Fruit Juice Supply per Person

Switzerland ranked first in daily fruit juice supply per person in 2023 at 30.69 grams, followed by Saint Kitts and Nevis at 29.17 grams and Seychelles at 26.54 grams. Antigua and Barbuda recorded 26.15 grams, while the Marshall Islands reached 25.95 grams.

The per-person ranking differs sharply from the ranking by total tonnage. China led the volume table but recorded only 0.53 grams per person per day. Population size therefore matters when comparing total supply with the amount available per person.

What These Fruit Juice Supply Figures Measure

Fruit juices beyond the named kinds pool here, in tonnes and daily grams per person for each reporting country over 2019 to 2023. Annual totals sum reporting countries only. The top of the table is unusually flat, so the lead changes hands on small margins. Large percentage moves from small bases describe newcomers rather than harvest booms.

Methodology

FAOSTAT Supply Utilization Accounts report food supply for human consumption under element 5141, measured in tonnes, and element 665, measured in grams per capita per day. The dataset covers 2019 to 2023 and the FAO category Juice of fruits n.e.c. Percentage changes are calculated relative to the starting year's value. Percentage changes are not calculated when the starting value is zero. Reported zero values are retained, while blank cells are treated as missing data. Comparisons between years use only countries with reported values at both endpoints.

The 2023 listed total represents the sum of reporting countries with values for that year; it is not a separate FAO world aggregate. Values below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimal places where applicable. These supply figures indicate food available for human consumption, not actual intake.
