Methodology

Percentage changes use the corresponding value in the earlier year as the base. Yearly totals sum FAO Crops and Livestock Products production quantity (Element 5510) for item Pig fat; rendered, 2019-2023. For rendered pig fat production, quantities below 1,000 tonnes retain two decimals and larger quantities are shown as whole tonnes. The 2023 rendered pig fat production ranking and shares use 2023 listed quantities. In the rendered pig fat production data, zero means a reported nil or negligible flow; an empty cell means no quantity was reported. For rendered pig fat production changes, only countries with quantities in both endpoint years enter the arithmetic. Production quantities are reported to FAO by national statistical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

How did Russia collapse in both windows?

Russia fell 304,500 tonnes (down 89.6 percent) in 2023 and 259,900 tonnes (down 88.0 percent) since 2019, from 339,900 tonnes in 2022 and 295,300 tonnes in 2019 to 35,400 tonnes in 2023. Russia reports in all three endpoint years, so both falls sit inside their change universes.

How much of the long-window gain runs through China?

China added 602,943 tonnes (up 30.5 percent) against a common-universe gain of 325,975 tonnes. The gain exceeds the net increase because Russia's 259,900-tonne fall and Germany's 111,765-tonne fall offset part of it.

Did the reporter set change at all?

No. The same 79 countries reported in 2019, 2022 and 2023, so both change universes equal the reporter set and the listed totals move only on reported quantities.
