Türkiye Triples, Vietnam Adds Most

Across the 167 countries in both 2022 and 2023, supply grew 2.2 percent, from 7,757,294 tonnes, a gain of 170,541. Türkiye added 109,085 tonnes, nearly tripling from 63,315, the largest percentage gain among the top ten. Vietnam added 55,027 tonnes, up 5.0 percent. Syria added 37,715 tonnes, up 25.3 percent. China shed 36,074 tonnes overall. The United States shed 16,422 tonnes, while Russia added 15,202 and Germany 8,865 tonnes. Thailand added 6,069 tonnes overall.

China added 302,401 tonnes, up 7.2 percent. Syria added 139,613 tonnes, nearly quadrupling from 47,064. The United States shed 95,755 tonnes, down 35.3 percent. Russia shed 38,971 tonnes, down 25.8 percent. Türkiye added 69,215 tonnes, up 67.1 percent from 103,185. Two countries left over the period, against five arrivals overall.

Türkiye Holds Seventh

Türkiye sat seventh at 172,400 tonnes, adding 109,085 in the latest year and 69,215 from 103,185 over five. Russia, eighth at 111,798 tonnes, added 15,202 lately. Tunisia, ninth at 88,088 tonnes, sits outside the per-person top ten. South Africa closed the top ten at 86,398 tonnes. Germany added 8,865 tonnes in the latest year, up 21.5 percent.

Bahamas Leads Per Person

The Bahamas' 128.00 grams a day topped the per-person table, ahead of Jamaica at 39.59 and Vietnam at 31.64. Grenada followed at 30.60 grams and Eswatini at 30.38. Syria, fourth by volume at 186,677 tonnes, sat at 21.68 grams per person. Mexico, third by volume, sat at 7.31 grams.
